Original post:
Heather from Doubleshot Reviews requested the recipe for the “dark chocolate cupcakes with dark chocolate cream cheese icing” AKA Lust in a Cup from my new novel, Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic. These cupcakes are also known as Jade’s – the lead character – favourite cupcake.
Since Heather demanded my immediate compliance asked so nicely, I decided to share the recipe with you, my lovely blogger readers, as well. Now it is true that Heather just gave Cupcakes, Trinkets & Other Deadly Magic a five star review, but she requested the recipe AFTER she posted her rating on Goodreads, so I swear there was no bribery going on!! Ahem. Diverting attention to the recipe >>>>>>
Official release day tomorrow! I’m baking some Love in a Cup to celebrate. I’ll promise to post pictures!!
Oh. My. GODDESS!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!! YUMMERS!!!
LOL. WARNING: That is super dark chocolate for the icing. Add 1/4 cup of the cocoa first, taste it, and then add the rest if you are up for it!! I should have mentioned that above.
Thank you SO MUCH for the recipe and the great read!! I plan on making these on payday. I’m not the greatest baker but I will do my best and post pics for you! 🙂
Oooo, fun! fun. You can use white flour if you like – I use whole wheat – but still sift all the dry ingredients (makes for a fluffier cake, I think). Check the cupcakes after 20 minutes. You might need the extra 5. Also you might want to start with 1/4 cup of cocoa in the icing and taste it. 1/2 cup is DARK – I love it – but might be too much for some people. Would love to see pictures!
Oh and if I didn’t mention…my husband is a trained pastry chef so I will have a tester to see how well I do. LOL
Reblogged this on Out of the Green and commented:
This cupcake right here will be made once I have cupcake wrappers. And the money for quality chocolate because Jade will cut me with her knife if I dont. 🙂
LOL! I recommend Safflower oil now, BTW. The cocoa will set you back around $8-$10 for about 100 grams, but you should be able to make the recipe twice with that amount (I’m guessing). There is another Valrhona cocoa that is more expensive but I’ve never popped for it, because I’m happy with the 21% mentioned above. Tony will know this all already 🙂 I demand pictures!
These were awesome even with regular flour and standard cocoa. Thanks so much for sharing! Wishing I had Kandy’s metabolism….. 😀
I wish I had Kandy’s metabolism! LOL so glad the recipe turned out for you. This is one of my go to favs. Though I’m a big fan of the Cozy’s now as well.
