I only have one tattoo, but it was custom drawn for me. It’s a jumping horse (I ride, duh) the same color as the horse I used to show. He was such a good boy! Horses have always been a big part of my life and have a big influence on who I am.
Can’t wait for Oracle 2! Your teasers have me ready to read!
Entry #1 – YAY! And I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the teasers!!
Well, my favorite tattoo is actually one that my great-grandmother and I were supposed to get together. It’s a hibiscus flower on my ankle. She was awesome – the game plan was that on my 18th birthday, we would go together and get them in each other’s favorite colors. She passed away on 9/12/2001, before I was 18. About 8 months after my 18th birthday, I finally got it in her colors. Teal & purple.
That woman was crazy – but I loved her. We’re coming up on my birthday again (about 1.5 weeks) and every year, that tattoo makes me think about her and how much I miss her.
Entry #2 – I love this, Liz.
I currently have just one tattoo that I got when I was 19. I often forget it’s even there as it’s on my lower back, but I still love it! It’s a large blue dragon that took 4 hours to get. But I love it as it feels like I’m a piece of art just for having it. 😊
Entry #3 – I never seen mine either – similar placement. Dragon though, I love it!
I’ve baked several f your cupcake recipes, YUMMMMMMMM, I’ve read every book, am reading Oracle 1 again right now – love Rochelle and I’m hoping Jade, Kandy & Des appear in Oracle 2! Cannot get enough! Thank you for sharing your creativity with us I would LOVE Rochelles butterfly tattoo or one of a Vamp!!
Entry #4 – I’m glad the recipes are working out of you, Johanna!
I have 2 tattoos. My favourite is a butterfly I designed that has my families astrological signs in the wings, while mine makes up the body.
Entry #5 – super cool tattoo idea!
I don’t have any tattoos but i really want to get a tattoo of Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack and Sally were part of our wedding theme and honestly I see me and my husband in those characters lol. Dumb I know. I’m waiting until I lose my weight and I’m going to get it as a treat to myself for losing the weight 😊
Entry #6 – I love it!
I have no tattoos (yet) because I haven’t found something I want permanently! BUT if I can convince my husband to get wedding band tattoos I’d be there in a heartbeat! 😉 Ten years next year, maybe that’s the year!! I frequently remove my rings for work so I’d love to have something to show when I take them off! 😉
Entry #7 – This is great idea. When he’s building houses Michael has to have his ring off as well.
I don’t have a tattoo, but if I got one, I’d get a shamrock. My dad’s birthday was St. Patrick’s day (March 17) and he passed away in 2004. I’d love to get one in his memory.
Entry #8 – <3
I don’t have any tattoos. I keep thinking about getting a chain of forget-me-nots around my ankle because they are the Alaska state flower but pregnancy, kids, and graduate school have gotten in the way.
Entry #9 – love the image, Cheryl!
My fave is the Deathly Hallows and the word Always tattoed on my right forearm
Entry #10 – <3 Harry Potter!! <3
The one on my left arm. It’s a blue rose with a banner around the stem. It’s my memorial tattoo for my parents. It makes me feel like they are still with me.
Entry #11 – I love this, Penny!
Tattoo I already have of red white and blue butterfly my lower back. Was custom drawn for me by lady that have me tattoo. It represents piece for me when my hubby was deployed and patriotic to support his sacrifice.
Entry #12 – <3 Kristi <3 I'm glad this helped get you through!
I have 5 tattoos that all have personal meaning to me and I love. My favorite is the one I plan to get which will be a Celtic knot that will have my son’s name intertwined it in.
Entry #13 – love it.
I have a tiger on the lower part of my back 😃 I love cats especially big ones!
Just re-read Oracle 1, can’t wait for Oracle 2 x
Entry #14 – tiger!!! xoxo!!
I don’t have any tattoos, but if I were to get one it would likely be the Celtic knot that’s on our wedding bands. I love it, and it shares a name, so it has a lot of meaning for me.
Entry #15 – that would be lovely 🙂
The favorite that I already have is my Labyrinth/Moon cycle on my right wrist. I got it as a reminder that I walk the Goddess path, and that the light always returns after the dark. It’s a symbol of cycles, and that all things come to an end.
I have many more planned, and a wolf print on the back of my neck. But my Labyrinth is the only one that I get to see 🙂
Entry #16 – love it, Temperance. What a great reminder to carry with you everywhere.
I saw a tattoo I really like. It was a celtic knot done in white ink. It was beautiful!
Entry #17 – some tattoos are just breathtaking.
I have a little happy Dragon on my ankle. I think it’s my favorite.
Entry #18 – dragon! love it!
I want the 3D chemical structure of potassium iodide as it is made up my sons initials (Keiran and Isaac) and I’m a biochemist!
http://image.slidesharecdn.com/briefintroductionofpotassiumiodide-150828083947-lva1-app6891/95/introduction-of-potassium-iodide-1-638.jpg?cb=1440751241
Entry #19 – okay, that is super cool!
I don’t have any but if I did I would want my friend Kris to design it — she designed her dragon one and it’s awesome!
Entry #20 – 😀
I have a tattoo on my left inner wrist that says Live Happily Ever Now. Also has my sister’s initials JAWK. My sister and her best friend from grade school decided to get tattoos on their 50th birthday. My sister passed away 14 days after her 49th birthday. I decided to take her place so Kim wouldn’t have do it alone. I chose a quote from my sister’s life board. I try to live life happily ever NOW and not wait for something or someone to make me happy!
Entry #21 – best sister and friend ever. love it.
Also love the sentiment!
My favorite tattoo a tie between two of them, one on each foot, #1 is of a scarab with wings open and some papyrus flowers and #2 is a firefly with the kanji for serenity over it. I’ve always loved Egyptian things and fireflies were always my favorite when I got to visit my grandparents house (& the fact that I love the tv show Firefly is an added bonus).
Entry #22 – Ooo, a firefly. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that.
The tattoo on my upper right arm: a 4-masted sailing ship struggling in the stormy sea. Below the tattoo it says “Not Gonna Sink”. I look at it every morning to remind me to float above my personal troubles, and not to let them be the anchor that drags me down.
Entry #23 – I freaking love this!!
My favorite tattoo is one I have myself. It took two sessions of 1 1/2 hours and 2 hours each. The first part is a celtic triple knot in yellow and green. The second part encircles the round triple knot and is composed of oak branches. The top branches are bare, as in winter, then there are leaves that have light green, as in spring, dark green, as in summer, then gold and orange and red, as in Autumn.
This is a tattoo I have on my own back.
I love that Rochelle has tattoos. <3
Entry #24 – wow, insanely cool idea!
I would get or have thought of getting a small green frog , according to the Haida they are the spirit of the Heart.
Entry #25 – 🙂
I have 3 tattoos, all with significant meaning. My favourite are the ones of my daughters names, one is on top of my wrist and the other is on the inside, very simple cursive font, but I made it that way so in the future I can add to them and turn it into a bracelet 🙂
Entry #26 – such a cool idea!!
I have the Gaelic word for faith, “creideamh,” on my lower back. It was designed for me by a cast member of the play I was in the summer before my 25th birthday. I still love it 12 years later!
Entry #27 – <3 love, love this! <3
I want a tattoo of my children’s birth month flowers, two mums and one daisy. I want the flowers at the base of a tree that has two birds in one of the larger branches. I want it on my lower back.
Entry #28 – Love it.
Dragonfly – they just seem magical to me… and when they mate, they form a heart!
Entry #29 – I didn’t know that!!
I’m not a fan of tattoos but my daughter has several and of all the ones she has I “appreciate” the 3 little feet….one for each miscarriage. If one must have one, let it stand for something are my thoughts. 🙂
Entry #30 – perfect, Rhonda!
I don’t have any tattoos, but I do like tribal tattoos.
Entry #31 – 🙂
I can’t see myself ever getting a tattoo, but if I did it would be of a tree of some sort. The Giving Tree was one of my favorite books growing up and I’ve seen some beautiful tree tattoos. Since Fall is my favorite season, I’d have to choose a tree shedding it’s leaves.
Entry #32 – Fall is my fav season as well!!
I only have one tattoo, but it is my favorite. My best friend was diagnosed with leukemia when we were 16, and her symbol going through chemo was a dragonfly. 10 years after she passed away (I got the tattoo two days after what would have been her birthday), I got a tattoo of a dragonfly flying down my right rib cage. It’s about 4×4 inches and only in black and shading with grey- the butterfly tattoo from your books is actually pretty similar. It’s my way of always keeping her close.
Entry #33 – I love this so much. I never thought when I asked about a fav tattoo that I get so many heart-wrenching and uplifting stories!
I have six … my favorite is my Celtic knot … done in purples to represent dreamer/imagination
Entry #34 – nice!
My favorite is my paisley. I have several tattoos, all with some significance. There is no significance to this one, other than I wanted something pretty and lacy. I went to my artist with the guidelines: pretty, lacey, and paisley, and she came up with something I love, every day! It’s nice to have something beautiful to look at, no matter how I feel about myself, or my day.
Entry #35 – Yes! A piece of art you carry with you. I love this.
I have a tattoo of a red heart surrounded by violets. It’s on my shin and covers up a large hyper pigmentation scar. Before the tattoo I hated wearing shorts or dresses because someone would always ask how I got the scar. Now I get compliments on my beautiful art work. It was custom designed by a friend of my daughter and is gorgeous. Getting it was my most empowering moment.
Entry #36 – Anne – so brilliant! I’m so glad you did that for yourself!!
My favorite tattoo that I have is a tribal sun with the words “Change the World” inside. The sun represents the idea of a brightly burning sun, or someone on fire with desire to change the world. “Change the World” is shorthand for a phrase I came up with: “I will change the world because I refuse to settle for anything less.” The tattoo is a reminder to me to never settle for anything less than my best, and to use my skills to better the world.
Entry #37 – God, I’m getting all weepy over these entries! I freaking love this, James!
I don’t have a permanent tattoo but I love having henna drawn on my hands and feet. Not sure I could ever commit to a single design.
Entry #38 – when my sister got married they had two ceremonies, one for each side of the family. For the Indian side we all had traditional dresses made, and got our hands hennaed. It was a crazy cool experience.
Of my 5 tattoos, my fav is my shoulder cap. I have curling waves in blues and greens with a sea horse. I plan to continue this theme adding orange into the mix!
And Meghan, tattoos are like Lays potato chips…..you can’t have just one! 🌞
Entry #39 – LOL, Lynn. I’m not sure how I’ve held out this long getting the butterfly … distracted by life, I guess.
I have sleeves, so lots to choose from 😉 my favorite to look at is my lighthouse, it’s done in a watercolor style and is truly a work of art. I have my children’s footprints on me as well and they mean the most to me because they’re my babies!
Entry #40 – Lighthouse and footprints .. I love both of those ideas!
I have 3 tattoos and they all have meaning. But my first one has to be my favorite.
My aunt was diagnosed with lung and liver cancer in 2002. She decided to do chemo and radiation, all that fun stuff. Well, my mom, my other aunt and my cousin told her if she lost her hair, we’d shave our heads. Luckily that didn’t happen (I would look so ridiculous bald!!), so we all decided to get tattoos. My aunt had a chemo port of the upper left side of her chest, and that’s where we got our tattoos. It’s a stylized jade cancer ribbon fir liver cancer, with a rose (her name) all tangled in it, but coming through – I designed it. Unfortunately, we lost my aunt in May 2003, she loved them though 🙂
I know this is long, but I really want another tattoo. I have a subarachnoid cyst in my brain, right behind my ear. The subarachnoid is one of three layers that surrounds and protects your brain. When we learned about it, my mom named it Charlotte (from Charlotte’s Web). So I really want to get her tattooed behind my ear! But, I’m weird like that 🙂
Entry #41 – I think a spider behind your ear would be crazy cool.
I have 4 soon to be 5, but my favorite is a celtic style butterfly in blue, black, and white that a friend drew for me with the words hope strengthens/ fear kills from one of my favorite authors. I have a thing for author inspired tattoos and butterflies 😊
Entry #42 – super cool!
I’m so excited for Oracle 2! Love your writing Meghan 🙂 my favorite tattoo is the only one I got – a quill to represent the act of writing.
Entry #43 – A quill! Love it!
I can’t wait to read the next book in this wonderful series!
Entry #44 – 🙂
I don’t have a tattoo but I would like to get a very colorful dragonfly. Reminds me of my Mom. Lost her four years ago this month.
Entry #45 – <3
I have 6 tattoos, none really mean anything though. My favorite is a swirly design that goes all the way across my lower back, really low. The middle looks like a swirly heart. With jeans on, the top looks like eyes. I love your books and your recipes! I tell everyone I know about both!
Entry #46 – eyes, very cool!
I have a surreal sleeve, the main characters, a monkey pulling a fish out of the water for a kiss. It is for me and my husband, who are opposites. In the water is an old bomb laying on the ocean bed with our anniversary date on it.
Entry #47 – Wow! That sounds crazy!!
I actually want 7 tattoos the first one I will be getting next yr for my bday will be a cross between a celtic and Asian ying yang symbol
Entry #48 – fun!
I want to get a tattoo of a willow tree in the rain on my side to symbolize both my girls. Or I want to get breath in, breath out move on tattooed on my wrist so when times get tough I can remember it too shall pass.
Entry #49 – I love both those ideas!
I don’t have a tattoo but have considered a cat silhouette with watercolor to remember all the cats I’ve fostered and helped at my local shelter.
Entry #51 – <3 Barb! <3
I currently have two, a faded out tiger on my shoulder and a chinese symbol for BIG Sister on the back of my neck. The neck tattoo is my fav. I would like to get the tree of life disbursing into ravens on my forearm for my mom who passed away 2 years ago.
Last, but most certainly not least, Entry #52! 😀
My favorite ratio is the one on the ride side on my ribs. It stars off saying I love you bunches and bunches to the moon and back forever and always a bushel and a peck and a hug around the kneck to infinity and beyond more then you’ll ever know. It goes around in the shape of a cross and on the inner side by noon it says John 3:16. It has a double meaning however one I believe in God and it a constant reminder of his love but two the word/ sayings are thing that my granny, dad and other people I love have told me my whole life that are no longer here. In a way it keeps them with me.
Also I apologize for how long that was.
