I sent Reconstructionist 2 off to the editor for his story edit pass yesterday, which means that I have a few days in which to outline Reconstructionist 3. Unfortunately I made the mistake of showering and blow drying my hair this morning before work, so ALL THE STORIES waiting in the wings of my mind started clamouring for attention.
How many stories are waiting to be told?
Allow me to give you a visual:
These are my (current) notebooks, colour coded by series. The collection pictured above represents Reconstructionist 3, Dowser 7, 8, and 9, Necromancer 1, along with two more that I dare not mention by name because one might not happen and the second is rife with spoilers.
Yes. Seven novels. That’s easily two years of work.
Dutiful writer that I am, I distilled all the perfect scenes that had presented themselves to me in the shower (etc) into a few notes in each notebook. [Scenes are always perfect in my mind, it’s only once they hit paper that I get into trouble.] Then I put the notebooks away, leaving only Reconstructionist 3 on my desk.
So, just in case you were wondering, there is a long term plan. And I’m trying to stick to it!!
I’d love to peak into all those notebooks!!!
😀😀 my handwriting is practically illegible. Better to wait until the stories are in book form. 😀😀
I have trouble keeping my thoughts straight in my head- I can’t imagine trying to keep all of those characters and stories organized or from taking over!
Hence the notebooks … and the long periods of silence where I probably look as if I’m sleeping with my eyes open.
Loving the colours of those notebooks. Do love a good note book 😝
Me too. 🙂
I am ecstatic!…. ‘nuf said.😉
Me too. I just I could write quicker!!
OMG 😮 looking at that lot is making drool!!!! Can’t WAIT! 😀
😀😀📚📚😀😊
I love how you organize your thinking into one notebook for each story. 🙂
I like treating myself. I match the ink as well.
Do you only write on the lines in a notebook, or do you write your notes in a freeform style (multiple places on the page, different alignments such as on angles)? Do you add any doodles (e.g., swords, cupcakes, etc.)?
Hmmm, I shared an interior shot from my notebooks a few blog posts ago, and have been meaning to share more … but I do a mixture. Mostly in the lines, but with bits added all over the place. My paradigm is always drawn perpendicular, so I can utilize the lines in the opposite direction. No doodles. I’ve never really drawn. But I will sketch out layouts of apartment/houses/buildings, etc. Wisteria’s witches circle … anything that I need to reference multiple times. 🙂
