Misprint paperback giveaway #2

April 3, 2015

To recap. I have fifteen misprinted paperbacks. The covers of the paperbacks are all oddly tinted to various degrees with pink and red. And, in a few, the top and bottom margins shift down or up around the halfway point. Since I’m a fan of decluttering, I thought I should give some of these ‘rarities’ away.

box of misprints

Remember these?

I gave the first four way last week.

I’ll autograph and label the books as misprints. I’ll even throw in an I See Me postcard and some butterfly tattoos.

Would you like to own this set of misprinted, but still pretty, paperbacks?

Four misprinted paperbacksYou would?

Then #1. Comment on this blog post with your favourite quote from any of the books.

And #2. Tell me why it’s your favourite quote.

Remembering #3. To include your email address in the comment form so I can contact you.

OPEN INTERNATIONALLY. Giveaway closes 9 a.m. PDT Saturday, April 4, 2015. Each entry will be assigned a number, and the winner will be selected by random number generator.

May the random number generator be in your favour!

I climbed into the Brave to find the old man at the kitchen table with my sketches already spread out before him and the bag of Oreos in his lap.
I love Chi Wen and him with Oreos is just the best.

If you’d asked me a week ago, I would have told you that the best cupcakes were dark chocolate with chocolate cream cheese icing, that dancing in a crowd of magic wielders  —the Adept  —  was better than sex, and that my life was peaceful and uneventful. Just the way I liked it. That’s what twenty-three years in the magical backwater of Vancouver will get you  —a completely skewed sense of reality. Because when the dead werewolves started showing up, it all unraveled …except for the cupcake part. That’s a universal truth.

This is the beginning of the first book. Reason why it’s my favorite bec after reading that made me want to read the book. I love baking cupcakes and putting mystery and baking together seems like it would be a great story.

Entry #2 – good to know! That’s what I always hope when I write those intros but I don’t always pull it off.

  3. April 3, 2015 9:32 AM

I liked the last line book one…..Joe didn’t want me for my magic. He didn’t care if I had rare hidden talents. He simply wanted my cupcakes, my body and maybe a bit of my time. And that sounded just perfect to me. The opening to book one was what also sent me to reading this all in the first place. But since it was already chosen I thought the end made me read on so I pick this one. BC sometimes in this life when things get to be too much simple is nice.

“Your hair,” I mock-whispered, “is seriously freaking me out.” This whole conversation about Kandy`s hair, after it turns back to brown, had me laughing so hard. And Kandy`s comeback about finding the perfect shade of green… priceless.

“She … she … smacked you — ” “She has touched me many times, and I have suffered no damage … other than the need for a cold shower on occasion.”

I love this, because 1.) not a huge fan of Audrey, and 2.) I always thought the relationship between “McGrowley” and Jade was fraught with almost TOO much tension, and this just blew it out into the open. In a very hilarious way, I might add.

    • April 3, 2015 10:14 AM

Entry #5 – ah, Audrey. So, so easy to screw with – LOL. Though I really liked how the scene between her and Jade formed/played in Dowser 4.

“I’ve got this thing for kissing inappropriate men in inappropriate situations … and places. You game?”
    Book #4

I have so many favorite quotes! But this caught my attention because jade is awesome and spontaneous and something I would say lol

“The silence was tense and strange. Shouldn’t we beable to hear the traffic, or even just the noises of the building?”

This quote sticks in my minds because it was the start of a reading frenzy for me until the chapter ended. It was late at night when I got to this part of the story after not being able to stop reading for hours. I was in bed,in the dark and the atmosphere in the story was fantastic and I feel the quote really put me in Jades shoes in that moment.

” ‘Not solely’ Qiuniu said for the third time.” I laughed all the way through this section where the other dragons were not listening to him. But he couldn’t wait for them to figure it out!

    • April 3, 2015 4:31 PM

Entry #9 – hee, hee. I love that part of the scene … while Jade’s mind is melting from all the magic.

“I could turn around. I could walk away. I wasn’t sure that thought had never occurred to me before.” Shadow maps and other Ancient magic. It shows her character and the type of person she is and how strong she is.

I just read i see me and i loved the foreshadowing. Before we know he is a tiger when Rochelle describes Beau as a cat curled in the sun. It got me thinking and i was looking forward to seeing how it played out.

    • April 3, 2015 4:33 PM

Entry #11 – Hee, hee. That comment startles Beau as well, and he almost spills the beans. Love that!

  11. April 3, 2015 4:52 PM

I answered his smile. Then I laughed. I threw back my head and laughed.

I love this because it’s Jade. She should be laughing always, but some serious business just went down so she hadn’t been laughing or dancing!!!! Lately. I like that it’s Warner that’s giving her the chance to laugh and that she’s allowing it. Oh and that Gran is in cahoots with him, that’s just peachy lol.

    • April 3, 2015 4:57 PM

Entry #12 – Gran is pretty wily … and good at hedging her bets – LOL. 😀

      • April 3, 2015 5:01 PM

I love her sorry it posted again I was trying to edit then bam daughter happened Smh luckily it’s a holiday and I hit up the chocolate stash while she wasn’t looking

This is Jade. She should always be laughing, and often is appropriate or not lol. Some serious business just went down so she hadn’t been laughing or dancing so much lately. I love that she allowed it and that it was Warner. Also Gran is in cahoots with him enough said.😁

I’m thinking of calling it unity in a cup. Screw that, Kandy said, her mouth full. It’s a freaking orgasm in a freaking cup.

This is one of many favorites because my heart aches for Jade yet Kandy is there to pull her out of the blues with laughter, like any amazing friend would do.

Excuse me, grandmother? Blindingly gorgeous Brazilian? Up to that point, I would have told you that my Gran didn’t even notice people’s gender…just whether they were Adept or not. “Qiuniu,” I murmured. “Oh, yes,” Gran said – and then she actually rested her hand on her heart as if it was beating too fast. “You should have seen him run to you when you fell.” ……….. Oh, God! I could see the matchmaking wheels turning.

I love this…..brought back fond memories of that point where I realized my own Gran was once young and a hot man could set her heart aflutter. I’d always just thought of her as a Grandma. 🙂

“I figured we have time for a hello-haven’t seen you in three months kiss as wel,” I said to his broad shoulders as I closed the door behind me. He turned and pulled me to him before all the words were out of my mouth. “Yeah, I got that, he said, right before he laid a blazing kiss on me.

Love her attitude and sheer bliss in everything she enjoys. And the fact that the world’s finest organic compound plays such a prominent role has earned you a spot on my virtual bookshelf forever, Meghan!! ❤️🍷🍫🍪❤️ if you end up giving Jade an amazing canine companion, I will be over the moon!!

“Yes, Sienna. I was giving a vampire a blow job, because that’s all vamps really want from a girl.”

This is just so up my alley…the sarcasm is perfect! I can relate to Jade when she’s in her feisty mode!

“Power up, wolf,”I said.” It’s time to dance.”
Kandy laughed.”I like it when you dance, dowser.”
“Everyone likes it when Jade dances.” Kett said from the shadows to my left.

I love this cause Jade just sounds so badass and dramatic. Also, Kett agreed with Kandy about the dance thing, which is basically a compliment coming from him, and I am rooting for Kett and Jade! Even though there’s the problem of Kett’s immortality, but I love their interactions and whenever Kett fights beside Jade. They make an awesome team. He catches her when she falls, takes a knife for her, etc.

  20. April 3, 2015 9:59 PM

“I’m not done, and I thought you were in a rush.” “I can be patient.” I laughed. He grinned.

I love this because it reminds me of the early stages of a relationship and how little comments can mean so much.

Great. I totally wanted to be in the tight confines of an elevator with a vampire as we traveled beneath the earth… to a morgue. Damn – internal sarcasm usually settled me… but not this time.

I love the sarcastic and snide comments she makes to herself, and sometimes out loud, because it makes her more real to me. Maybe because a lot of the times she says something similar to what I think I would in that situation!

  22. April 3, 2015 11:27 PM

I can’t provide a quote because I haven’t had the opportunity to read one of your stories. I’m entering because I want to win – and then I can tell you my favourite part!

    • April 4, 2015 7:42 AM

Hi! Thanks for trying to enter, but this particular giveaway is weighted heavily in the direction of my lovely current readers who have done so much to support me so far. I do run other giveaways that are wide open, just comment to win sort of deals though. And, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, the first book in the Dowser series is currently available for free. If you choose to grab it, I hope you enjoy the read.

      Have a great weekend!

It would be insanely sweet. Probably enough to give me a headache. But I found all fudge too sweet, and still I was desperate to get it into my mouth.

This resonated with me as I have a love/hate relationship with fudge 🙂 That plus a lot of the other memorable moments have already been quoted!

I also read the 4 Dowser books over two days. However the Oracle book doesn’t appear to be available outside the B&N US store, yet I was able to get the Dowser ones at B&N UK?

    • April 4, 2015 7:49 AM

Entry #23 – I always desperately want to love fudge, and it never works out between us 🙁

That’s is odd about I See Me on B&N UK?? I’ll have to send an email into Smashwords about it as, because I’m Canadian, I have to use them to upload my books to B&N. Sorry about that! I’ll try to get it sorted ASAP. If you can’t stand to wait, you might be able to grab the ePub off the afore mentioned Smashwords. Not sure how that works for UK readers?

Or win it in this bundle … Or three more chances coming up two Fridays from now. 🙂

    • April 7, 2015 11:56 AM

From Treasures, Demons, and Other Black Magic
This quote came at the perfect time, tearing up and emotional about all the losses on the beach, looking to baking for some comfort ( who doesn’t!) and suddenly I couldn’t stop laughing. The idea of a Kett- Kandy baby is ridiculous, but the perfect taste came through! Loved it!

    • April 4, 2015 7:53 AM
