GIVEAWAY CLOSED. WINNERS: LUCKY #28, 18, 52, and 48. In a startling turn of events #28 has deferred her winnings because of her close personal relationship with the author, so #51 turns out to be extra lucky!
We are gearing up to move into a MUCH smaller place at the end of September, and I need to purge a bunch of stuff before then. To that end, I have a few more misprinted paperbacks that need new homes.
Such as these four pink-streaked but still pretty Dowser 4 paperbacks:
Since there are four books there shall be four winners – quadruple the fun! I’ll leave the giveaway open for four days for symmetry.
Who would like to win an autographed paperback of Dowser 4?
You would?
Okay then!

I love love love cheesecake! Anything cheesecake. I have a lust for cheesecake. I am allergic to caffeine and cannot eat chocolate any more. Poor me
Entry #1 – allergic to caffeine and can’t eat chocolate? That makes me so sad!! But cheesecake! Oh, yes! I love a great cheesecake.
The doctor cut me off chocolate in ’99. I really don’t miss it any more but I do love the smell of chocolate!
My favorite chocolate treat is a dense dark choc cheescake with a raspberry drizzle, accompanied by a latte.
Entry #2 – why am I getting the feeling I will be making a cheesecake later – LOL. Chocolate and raspberry, oh my.
I like eating Tolehouse cookies while reading. The dark chocolate morsels go very well with the action in your series.
Entry #3 – nice! I love that image. 😀
I love my Butterfinger Bites, but my *absolute* favorite chocolate snack, while reading about Jade’s adventures, is chocolate covered caramel popcorn … Salty, Sweet, and just a little gooey … kinda like Jade. 🙂
Entry #4 – Ohhhh, yes. Caramel popcorn … it’s been too long … hee hee.
Downer #4 had me thinking about berries and chocolate. Started craving a traditional French style chocolate mousse with raspberry sauce. Ended up getting lazy and just dumped the berries on top of the mousse. Your books make me bake, cook, and eat!
Oh, no…Dowser, never ever a Downer! 🙂
Entry #5 – I really didn’t think it through when I decide this would be a fun entry requirement. Now I want chocolate mousse!
Me too…. always have to make cupcakes after reading one of the books lol
I always have to make cupcakes while writing them – LOL!
Ghiradelli minis in a variety of flavors are my go-to chocolate snack, but when I read the Dowser books I prefer Ghiradelli Intense Dark Midnight Reverie 86% Cacao squares. I wish I could find Jade’s brands in my area.
Entry #6 – I hope to pick up some different brands – that I like – at the chocolate festival in Seattle in October, so fingers crossed that it will be easier to find those!
My sinful passion is DARK chocolate truffles with a hint of orange and don’t forget the champagne truffles! I want to stuff the whole thing into my mouth, but must have restraint! Lol! Small bites…..;)
Entry #7 – SAVOUR! 😀 hee hee.
Hershey’s Nuggets Special Dark with Toffee and Almonds. They’re just the right size to have a couple after a meal and not feel guilty!
Entry #8 – Hmmm, sounds perfect!
Candy bars, preferably king size. Whatchamacallits, Thingamajigs, Snickers Almond, pretty much any kind. I love eating them while I read, it only takes one hand so the other is free to hold the book.
Entry #9 – Snickers 🙂 I have a character named Snickers in my novel, After The Virus. Mars Bars! Twix! But I’ve ruined myself for chocolate bars like that now. Though I still like the minis at Halloween.
See’s Chocolates! They remind me of my Mom who is 3,000 miles away from me but reading the Dowser series and eating See’s
Entry #10 – OMG, love See’s so much. Love the connection with your mom!!
I have enjoyed a Charleston Chew with everyone of your books. Its my favorite. I got hooked one Halloween and to my horror had only received one that night. Since then i cant get enough of them.
Entry #11 – interesting! I’ve never eaten one.
Mmmm, chocolate covered almonds are my fav! They are my go-to for reading, working, de-stressing, and just the hell of enjoying chocolate! 🙂
Entry #12 – oh, yes!
My favorite is Lindt 85% intense dark chocolate. I let it melt on my tongue so i can savor the flavor. Mmm
Entry #13 – we’ve had this conversation before, Nikki 😉
I love the soft/chewy caramels covered in dark chocolate and sea salt. And now I’m salivating…
Entry #14 – Oh. My. God. YES PLEASE! ahem.
I do love chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.
Entry #14 – who doesn’t? 🙂
A simple very dark chocolate…. let it slowly melt and savor every second it does.
Entry #15 – oh yes!
My all time favorite chocolate treat is my grandmother’s chocolate chip delight cake. Airy chocolate chip sponge cake with chocolate chip whip cream frosting. Consistency of Angel food cake but the chocolate makes it heaven! Wish I could send a pic…..yummy!
Entry # 16 – Oh! This sounds really yummy and interesting!
My favorite is chocolate cheesecake with a brownie crust, or if I’m in the mood for something lighter, a fresh berry tart with a sugar cookie crust drizzled with chocolate. Now I want to eat but it’s too hot to cook!
Entry #17 – oh, chocolate cheesecake with brownie crust! yes!
I have a recipe for dark chocolate brownies. I usually am fairly generous with the cocoa, and put semi-sweet chocolate chips. They are amazingly good. Other than that, I love anything dark chocolate
I also made the Buzz in a Cup a couple weeks ago and they were delicious. All my friends loved them!
Entry #18 – I have the most amazing brownie recipe. Michael can’t eat them because they are instant migraine triggers! I’m super glad the Buzz’s went over well. YAY!
I love chocolate with marshmallows or caramel. Love snicker’s bar.
Entry # 19 – I’m with you, with all three! HA!
Easter time, they make the chocolate with marshmallows and caramel in one. I just started experimenting in making candy so…. might have look into it 🙂
See Candies’ Scotchmallows are exactly that. They are so divine!
Chocolate ice box cake…..a layer of moist chocolate cake with a thick layer of chocolate frosting , a layer of cheesecake and then another layer of chocolate cake…oh so good!
Entry #20 – Holy Moley, how have I never heard of this??
I like sea-salted caramel chocolates, myself. 😉 I haven’t read your books in too long. I need to fix this. Maybe I’ll buy some chocolates with sea-salted caramel with my September money and buy the rest of the Dowser books and settle in to get caught up. Sounds like a good plan to me!
Entry #21 – Jen! I hope you are well?
I’m doing okay. My father passed away last September and, though it was expected, it still rocked me and I still really miss him. I retreated from all things online for a time, and I’m still working to get back to all the things I dropped in my grief, including your books and blog. But I’m going to try and buy your Dowser books in paperback and read them all by the end of the year. This will make me happy. 🙂
I hope that you are well, too!
I’m sorry to hear about your papa, Jen. Mourning hits us all different ways. Michael and I shook up our entire lives when we lost my step-mom last year. The year since has been different, and unbalanced, and rough, and fantastic all at the same time. I think the next year will come with some stability (as much as life ever does).
I’m going to be giving away another stack of paperbacks soon, so maybe wait on your purchase 😉
Glad to have you back.
When Dowser 4 came out I baked dark chocolate cupcakes with strawberry butter cream icing! I ate them while reading your deliciously wonderful book!
Entry #22 – Love in a Cup! Yum. Yum!
Sitting Indian style with NOOK in lap with my spoon stuck into an awesome slice of CHRIS’ OUTRAGEOUS CHEESECAKE from Cheesecake Factory with the following ingredients “Layers of Moist Chocolate Cake, Chewy Brownie, Toasted Coconut-Pecan Frosting and Creamy Chocolate Chip Coconut Cheesecake”.
Entry #23 – Love it! Thanks for the visual. 😀 That’s some cheesecake.
We have this place in Houston called The Chocolate Bar. They have this amazing Bayou City mud pie with dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and a white chocolate cream cheese topping that is so dangerous for my waistline! Love it! They have so many chocolate desserts though, I need to go back and try more. You know, research.
Entry #24 – Wow. Triple chocolate mud pie? I’d be in serious trouble. And yes, I understand research very well. LOL
I absolutely love brownies, fudge brownies 🙂
Entry #25 – we should swap recipes, Christina. 🙂
I would love to!
Okay! I owe Gertie my chocolate chip cookie recipe as well (it’s super simple). I’ll try to remember to write up my go-to brownie recipe at the same time. Fun!
Macaron
Chocolate base with a chocolate strawberry filling with chocolate truffles for backup
Entry #26 – I’ve make macaroon every couple of weeks now, since we have our own chickens. Michael makes eggs benny for Sunday brunch and I use the egg whites for an afternoon snack. 😀
I have to endulge in a 2 bite brownie (or 4) while getting lost in your books. I’m from Langley and work downtown Vancouver. It’s wonderful to read about all your local references and I make it a point to try out the places you talk about. I love that I can climb into your story and get just a bit lost in it. Keep up the good work. I love your characters and I love your stories. Please keep writing them.
Entry #27 – I almost got obsessed with those two bite brownies when I first saw them. And I never buy baked goods. Thankfully I squashed the habit quickly!! I have great fun setting the Dowser novels in present day Vancouver. My plan actually is to have 7 – 9 firmly set there (not so much traveling). So glad you’re enjoying the journey (with me). I’m going to have Dowser 6 open at Notte’s Bon Ton (well, that is the current plan). So, of course, I will have to go there for afternoon tea myself soon. 😀
Pineapple chocolate the new addition at Chocolate Arts in Vancouver!
Entry #28 – Jo! Did you try one the that last time we were there or have you been back without me? 🙁 Michael really liked that one as well. I should have tried it. I still have two of my ‘treats’ in the stash actually. Thanks for the reminder, now I’ll have to go eat them. LOL Miss you.
I love Reese’s peanut butter cups, they are my favorite. I also love to bake, so everytime I read one of your books I want to bake something. I end up making too much for my husband and I to eat, so I usually have to take some to my family to have. Love your books and can’t wait for the next one! Thank you for having another giveaway!
Entry #29 – I so indulge in Reese’s at Halloween. I always pawn off baking as well (it just being Michael and I here) I’ve never gotten any complaints, so I’m sure you don’t either! Good luck with the random number generator!
I can’t really eat a lot of chocolate as I suffer from IBS. Whilst I would love to eat a slice of chocolate fudge brownie cake, iced with a chocolate ganache, and decorated with milk and white tempered chocolate shards……. I settle for a simple chocolate victoria sponge cake, with a vanilla butter cream and black cherry jam. Perfect really as I still get the chocolate hit but not ill.
Entry #30 – Wow, I think your ‘settling’ sounds amazing! Hee hee.
I discovered a local shop had a range of different % chocolate in small bars. I’ve now got a stash 3 or 4 types and try to snack on something comparable to whatever Jade has in her oh so fabulous bag. If I run out of eating chocolate, then home-made, nut free chocolate brownies!
Entry #31 – I never put nuts in my brownies or cookies either. I love those small bars (I get mine from Xoxolat in Vancouver). Which reminds me I think I need to add one to my bag …
Just chocolate chips in general. Do I like muffins? Cupcakes? Ice cream? Cookies? Sure. As long as there’s chocolate chips in it.
Entry #32 – Love it! Simple and sweet.
I make a yummy version of rocky road called just Fridge Cake – alcohol soaked raisins, crushed digestives, melted butter, golden syrup and yummy melted chocolate. A little bit of chocolate magic to accompany Dowser 😉
Entry #33 – Wow, that sounds crazy. Ha! Michael would be all over it.
I love chocolate, so picking just one is really hard. However, one of my absolute favorites is homemade fudge. I use marshmallow cream, semi-chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips and sugar and butter of course. So good!!! But, not good for my hips, so I only make it a few times a year.
Entry #34 – That sounds great – especially the marshmallow cream – I’ve never managed to perfect fudge, Not sure I have the arm strength for it. Hmmm, I wonder if I should use the mixmaster …
My favorite Chocolate treat is a chocolate cupcake, with bitersweeet butercream frosting and a chocolate coffee gnash that a bakery here in Milwaukee makes. It is the best. You want to gobble it up but I usually cut ot half and savor it twice
Entry #35 – savouring is always good … difficult to do, but always rewarding. 😀
I love chocolate cupcakes w/chocolate frosting … they are so basic and yet so yummy
top them with fresh berries for an extra treat
Entry #36 – I love it simple and tasty. Why add on extras when it’s already so good?
A chocolate cupcake with almond buttercream icing. I love caramels too!
Entry #37 – almond buttercream! Interesting …
My favorite treat is a 3 chocolate (dark, white and milk) gelato! Hmmmm just writing about makes want to jump in the car and go to the store!
Entry #38 – Wow, sounds great!
My favorite chocolate dessert is dark chocolate mousse or mousse cake with dark chocolate ganache
Entry #39 – yes, please!
Lindt dark chocolate sea salt truffle! Yum
Entry #40 – I’ll have to try it!
Fudgy chocolate brownies
Entry #41 – always and anytime. LOL
Peanut M&Ms mixed in popcorn. Sweet and salty treat can pop in my mouth while reading.
Entry #42 – perfect combo!
I love a Hershey’s dark chocolate bar and will let the pieces slowly melt on my tongue.
Entry #43 – that’s the proper way to eat good chocolate!!
There’s a little place in northern New Mexico that I like to eat at whenever I visit my great aunt, and everything that restaurant makes is amazing. However, every now and again, they have this chocolate bourbon pecan pie. Yum! I have even brought that pie back to Houston on the plane.
Another favorite that is easier to obtain is Cherry Garcia from Ben & Jerry’s. Okay, who is up for a midnight snack?
Entry #44 – I love having special places to eat when visiting other cities (etc).
My favorite chocolate is Lindt white chocolate truffles. I tried them when we were on vacation in Italy and went over into Switzerland. We stopped into the Lindt’s store and I tried one of the truffles and fell in love. That was 12 years ago, and I’ve been treating myself to them ever since. I also love chocolate cupcakes with butter cream frosting, or white chocolate blackberry butter cream frosting. Yum!! Nibbling on one of them while reading one of the dowser series books is one of my favorite pastimes. Thanks for writing such great books! 😀
Entry #45 – White chocolate blackberry buttercream? Sounds intriguing 😀
Also the Lindt store in Switzerland must have been an experience!!
Oooh, a chokito bar with a Lindt hot chocolate chaser, followed by a chocolate chili chai! In fact , I believe I can hear them calling my name…
Entry #46 – triple barrel! Love it.
Love, love, love Sees Candy but especially California brittle!!!
Entry #47 – I’m not sure I’ve tried their California brittle. It’s on my list now!
Your books always make me reach for my dark dark chocolate with sea salt or a hint of chile!
Entry #48 – it is amazing what a sprinkle of sea salt can do. 🙂 I add a little Fleur de Sel to my hot chocolate.
Anything with white chocolate
Entry #49 – 😀
My favorite is a snack of Endangered Species Dark Chocolate with Cranberry and Almond bites. They are the perfect little slice of chocolate, 72% dark, AND they benefit the animals. I’m getting giddy just thinking of the box I have waiting at home.
Entry #50 – I always get giddy thinking of the chocolate waiting for me at home … Of course I don’t leave the house much … 😉
As a baking and pastry major I love anything chocolate. But my favorite is homemade brownies with vanilla bean ice cream and pecans
Entry #51 – obviously, how could that not be your favourite?? LOL love it.
entry #48 – I love to make a thick chocolate and peanut butter milkshake then I curl up on the couch and read. Sometimes though I feel like getting up and making her cupcakes but I can’t get that motivated when I am reading a good book because that means I have to stop reading it.
Entry #52 – sorry, I was behind. 🙂 chocolate and peanut butter milkshake? Interesting!
Chocolate Cream Pie. My brother in laws mother makes the best Chocolate cream pie, it is orgasmic. First time I ever tried her CCP I literally moaned out loud it was so freaking good. But as for an everyday treat that I can get easily Salted Carmel Chocolate Squares… so good. Sweet and Savory.
Entry #53 – I’m not usually a fan of pie, but that sounds amazing! God, this entire blog post makes me so hungry. HA!
I LOVE the chocolate orange. I’ve tried other fruit flavored chocolates but orange is the best. Especially with a nice red wine. Or chocolates that I get at the international store. They’ve got really interesting flavors.
Entry #54 – it’s funny how different all our tastebuds are. I’ve never really gotten into the chocolate/orange thing. I like it, of course. But I’m not crazy about it.
You will probably be disappointed by my mundane tastes, but my favorite chocolate is still Hershey’s Milk Chocolate. Though I have had some pretty good Swiss chocolates while in Europe.
Entry #55 – no one ever needs to justify their favourite things! That’s a rule!
Black Forrest Cake one of my all time favorite deserts! Yum-o!
Entry #56 – you, and now Jade 😉
There were two! First Godiva dark chocolate and sea salt bar but then there was more reading of chocolate… So of course I needed to get another! Godiva milk chocolate and salted caramel…mmm
Entry # 57 – it’s always good to have a back up!
