On the [belated] [again] anniversary of Terry Pratchett’s death.

GIVEAWAY CLOSED. LUCKY #2 HAS BEEN EMAILED.

Sir Terry Pratchett passed away two years ago on March 12, 2015.

I blogged about his passing here.

For the second [belated] anniversary of his death I would like to once again celebrate his work by hosting a giveaway for a copy of Wintersmith, which was the first book of his that I ever read. I’m slightly peeved that I’m ‘belated’ with this post again. I did have a warning in my calendar. But better late than never!

To celebrate Sir Terry’s life and his work, I would like to buy a copy of Wintersmith for one of you – for kindle, or iBooks, or Kobo, or in paperback. You name the format and I’ll buy it.

Comment below to enter. Tell me your favourite book of Sir Terry’s. Or why you’d like to read Wintersmith specifically. Or if you’ve already read Wintersmith who you’d like to gift it to (and why).

RIP Sir Terry Pratchett. Thank you for the entertainment, the inspiration, and for the strong women and inspiring world you created.

Notes/Rules: OPEN INTERNATIONALLY. Each comment will be assigned an entry number. ONE winning entry will then be selected via random number generator. One entry per person. Please make sure to fill out a valid email address in the comment form. Email addresses are not collected for any purpose other than notifying the contest winner. No purchase necessary.

If you haven’t commented on the blog before, or you comment from a different IP address, the comments are moderated. So don’t worry if you don’t see your entry right away. I will approve it, then assign it an entry number.

Giveaway closes WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15, 2016 at 8 p.m. PDT.

  1. I haven’t read any of his books but it sounds like Wintersmith has and amazing strong and smart heroine. I love all books that portray women in this way and would love to read about how she (hopefully) outsmarts him and makes it to Spring!

  2. So I’ve actually never had a chance to read anything by Sir Terry, even though it’s been on my to-do list for ages (too many good books out there, I suppose). Wintersmith was actually the first book of his that’s on my list.

  3. I would love to win a copy paperback for my husband. My favorite to this day is the Wee Free Men. I absolutely love those books. My husband got me hooked and Sir Terry Pratchett is one of his all time favorite authors 😁

  4. I saw a reminder of his passing come up on my calendar; I still mourn the loss of such a vibrant and vital voice in our world. I don’t often laugh out loud when I read, but his ability to point out the stupidity in society in such a deliciously subtle way while celebrating the individual is truly one of a kind. Fortunately, his books just get better with multiple readings. RIP Sir Terry.
As I’m already a fan, please choose someone else to gift Wintersmith to.

  5. I would LOVE to read Wintersmith, for one because I haven’t read any of his work yet, and secondly because I need something to tide me over until you release Reconstructionist 2.

  6. I haven’t read any of his books, but when you so highly recommend them, it makes me eager to do so!

  7. Truckers because my dad read it to me as a bed time story when I was little and it’s the first one I ever read.

  8. My favorites of his work so far includes the first two books (Rincewind! The Luggage! ❤️) and any that feature Death (all of them?) in the Discworld series. 🙂 I’m pretty sure I already own Wintersmith, so I’d love to win one to share! (Even though, so far, I’ve only read the first eight Discworld books.)

    🙂

  9. I’ve not read his books but I’d love the chance! If you love it I trust your recommendations!

  10. I have never had the chance to read one of his books but I am always looking for great authors to read.

  11. I did not know Terry Pratchett was /is dead.
I have been collecting his books to read, they have their own stack, and when I gather enough I will start reading. I inhale books, so I need to have volumes in front of me before I start on new (to me) authors. I see so many wonderful reviews for him, that I’m saddened to have lost him before I could love him.
No, that particular book is not in my library. Paper all the way, baby!

  12. Please tell me (us!) that you have read the first 2 Tiffany Aching books!?! That cast iron skillet is NOT to be missed. Also the audiobooks are a hoot.
I have dead tree copies of all 5 Tiffany books, and am filling in holes on my Kindle “shelves”

  13. My favorite book by him he co-wrote with some kid named Gaiman: Good Omens: The Right and True Prophecies of Agnes P. Nutter, Witch. My second favorite is a tie between everything Discworld. However, I have not read Wintersmith.

  14. His writing was pretty amazing! The husband & I share little in reading tastes, Terry Pratchett was one we did share. Thank you for the offer to share his work.

  15. I adore ALL the Discworld and Tiffany Aching books, the Nac Mac Feegles have me rolling across the floor lmao.

I marked his anniversary reading The Colour of Magic and Wyrd Sisters <3
