Dowser 8.5: Mory: yarn giveaway

GIVEAWAY CLOSED. THE WINNER HAS BEEN EMAILED.

To help celebrate the week leading up to the release of Graveyards, Visions, and Other Things that Byte (Dowser 8.5), I’ve put together three giveaways (not including whatever I cobble together for my live reading over on Facebook on release day, August 23 at 4pm PDT). I’ll keep all three giveaways open through release day so everyone has time to enter.

The first giveaway is for a skein of self-stripping, merino twist fingering weight yarn (80% superwash merino wool and  20% nylon) from a favourite (and local) dyer, Gauge Dyeworks.

I think that these colours match Mory’s knitting preferences perfectly. I’ll include the two sets of stitch markers pictured as well.

This skein of the classic-striping White Light (<– click the link to see pictures of it knit up) colourway is perfect for socks or arm warmers or a thin striped hat. I’ve knit all three items with yarn from the same dyer.

So … are you interested in giving this gorgeous skein a home?

Yes?

Well, then!

Comment below to enter to win a skein of self-striping, fingering weight yarn and stitch markers.

Fun! Fun!!

Likes and shares are always welcomed and appreciated.

Notes/Rules: OPEN INTERNATIONALLY. One entry per person. One winner will be selected by random number generator. Email addresses are not collected for any purpose other than to contact the winner. No purchase necessary.

Giveaway closes THURSDAY AUGUST 23, 2018 at midnight PDT.

  1. Wow! This so exciting! I would have to make arm warmers in honor of Mory. I love the self-striping colorways; they can be so much fun. Right now, on my hook (yeah, I’m just a crochetter), I have a cake of Yarn Bee called Grape Jamboree–5 shades of purple. Woo hop!

  2. This yarn is BEAUTIFUL! I’ve dabbled in knitting, but I crochet for the most part. I’d love to make a hat for my youngest with this. It’s perfect!

  3. Stunning yarn. Socks or a hat, too hard to decide. If I am lucky enough to win I would snuggle it and let it tell me. After all yarn does talk. Sometimes it screams – “BUY ME”. I will love the post (and of course the yarn if I am the lucky person)

  4. I am more of a crocheter than a knitter, but I haven’t been very happy with crocheted socks. I always love yarn though!

I am excited about Dowser 8.5, I think a Mory POV will be a lot of fun.

  5. Would love to win this, have just started knitting this would go w lol for my first proper make (I’m making a scarce learning all the different stitches)

  6. Wow Beautiful yarn – I’m a crocheter not a knitter but I would love to learn. I’m working on a throw for my nephew and his new bride right now. I think I would make fingerless gloves with this pretty yarn.

  7. I’m not a knitter but could happily incorporate this rainbow of color into my felting. Anxiously awaiting 8.5!

  8. Love, love your books! I’m re, rereading them and it’s like I read them for the first time. I can’t wait for the next one.

  9. Oh, I would love to win this! I have a 1 1/2 year old granddaughter who would lookmadorable in a hat made from this!

  10. Love these characters and series, especially the recipes! I have the cookbook. Every time you expand a character I get hooked. Don’t stop creating. Can’t wait for the 23rd, I have preordered it

  11. Such a fun connection to the wonderful story you have been weaving. Very much looking forward to the release of 8.5 (already have it preordered)! Always looking for beautiful yarn to knit into fun gifts for family and this one is a keeper.

  12. So pretty. Also, something to add to your Vancouver list if it is a local dyer! I have got to make a trip sometime!

  13. Ohhhh pretty! I have an on again off again desire to be a knitter. This might be the thing to tip me back to on!

  14. Wow! Perfect yarn for Mory! I crochet, but hopefully she wouldn’t mind. I love your giveaways, but love release days even more! Looking forward to more of the story!

  15. Gorgeous! I have a thing for fingerless gloves/mits and think this yarn will make a beautiful pair… someone is going to be very lucky – thanks for your generosity! 😍

  16. Love the colors in the yarn. I see a scarf in the near future if I were to win the giveaway. I want to also say “good luck to everyone “

  17. Oh my. That yarn is lovely. The 23rd is going to be so exciting. I have to take my son up to college & I get to start 8.5. Then getting to participate in your Facebook live event while traveling is a bonus.

  18. Love the books and keep looking up patterns from them as the books get my creativity flowing! What a great way to celebrate the release. Thank you

  19. This yarn is so beautiful! I’m a newbie knitter and love your books! I’ve recently perfected loom knitting and have enjoyed learning cabeling. I’d love to try out this yarn as I’m always looking for new favorites.

  20. Wow! How time has flown since I read your first Dowser book years ago. So excited for this next adventure!

  21. This is such a great giveaway. Thank you so much for having it. I knit every day, so I know I would love to win!

  22. I would love to win this, especially since I went to the web page and they are sold out of almost everything.
Since reading this series I’ve purchased a few things from Peg and Awl and given serious look at shoes from Fluvog.
    You have good taste Meghan!

  23. Beautiful! Thank you for the opportunity! I am looking forward to the release of the next book. I have preordered and have even put a reminder on my calendar!

  24. YAY, I haven’t crocheted anything for several years and I so miss that completion of a beautiful project. I think I’d add it to a bunch of aran knit authentic wool to do a throw. The off white with the colors would look awesome!! Thanks for the opportunity Maghan.

  25. I hope I get a chance to win this beautiful yarn by Gauge Dyeworks. I just enjoyed reading I See Me (Oracle Book 1) looking forward to reading more books from you, Meghan!

  26. oh that os beautiful yarn!!!! i have been needing to learn to knit socks….. might take me 2 yrs to finish… one sock.. lol…i knit slow

  27. Would be so excited to win this! I love that Mory knits all the time (though I prefer crochet 😉) and has a pet turtle just like me!

  28. So pretty, thank you for getting me into knitting and helping me find places in Edmonton that got me started. after my first two knitting projects ( beanies) I am hooked!! made a few other items including a baby blanket. and now I have a slowly growing pile of Hand dyed local ( Canadian) made.. you have turned me into a yarn snob . LOL!!! JK

  29. I love the series and already made cupcakes with strawberry icing which is now my favorite. I crochet and attempt knitting so the beautiful yarn is enticing. And I must confess that I just finished 8.5- can’t wait for the next book!

  30. Those are the coolest stitch markers I’ve seen yet! I envy your climate, I only get to wear my knit sweaters for a few months a year. My fault for liking wool and alpaca.
