Last Tuesday I took a virtual class through ChangePain.ca about the Mediterranean diet and treating chronic pain. We pretty much eat a Med diet already with the exception of needing to up our olive oil intake and to figure out how to add in legumes. During lunch, Michael and I chatted about how to do both, plus adding Greek yogurt to our morning smoothie.
Our lunch consisted of olives, sliced carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, and a tuna salad with some black sesame crackers. Michael swaps out the tuna for salmon or roasted organic chicken, but we were in the process of eating the cold plate lunch he makes most days.
This will be relevant in a moment …
So … Michael wanted to know if he should replace the crackers he snacks on through the day with soybeans, and I scanned through some of the literature the doctor had sent to see if I could find a quick answer. While doing so, I came upon this:
That’s right. I have just discovered that Michael feeds me ‘variety plates.’ Because, similar to a toddler, it’s the best way to hold my attention for long enough to make me eat a full meal.

Okay, now that I’ve been fed, I better get back to work. I have stickers and a new notebook to play with!
Um, let me rephrase that.
I’ll be writing for the rest of the afternoon.

Love your humor! Also, soy can be a migraine trigger, so keep that in mind.
I’m doomed-migraines from soy anything, olive oil, whole wheat or any whole grain for that matter π
Ugh, Iβm sorry!!
Do love a variety platter π
Ha, me too!!! π
Sounds like my Greek pasta salad, just in one bowl. Except for the hummus and lettuce.
You don’t sound too surprised that a) eat like a toddler or b) learning that Michael had you hood-winked without your knowledge. Thanks for the grin, the giggle and the Awwwww.
πππ
I eat similarly lol. I love fresh veggies and fruits with salads and crackers with some cheese here and there. It’s what I grew up on and it is what has stuck with me. That being said I am enjoying a really dang good donut right now π
Iβm jealous. Reading your comment while eating a protein bar. The bar isnβt bad but no comparison to a donut π©
Nice!
Love to eat meals like this usually I make mine more like an antipasto platter. This is one of my go to dinners on hot days. Enjoy the stickers/writing π
you gotta love a man so smart he has you figured out to your foundation. A keeper. Oh, I totally feel you on the Mediterranean diet world. Gotta figure a way of tricking my body to love those new legumes and yep, up the olive oil. I don’t know about getting the greek yogurt though, I’ve always had an inflammatory reaction to milk off and on. I do love that the med diet lowers inflammatory reactions naturally without thinking about yes to this, no to that.
Do you think the BPA in tuna/salmon cans may affect your headaches? Up until I had cancer (cured 18 months agoI thought the hype on BPAs was over rated. Then I found that it actually could over ride the meds I took to counteract symptoms! And it was just because of the tiny amount in the lining of tuna cans (which I had every lunch). BPA is actually synthetic estrogen, I had no clue. Just another piece of info, hope it helps.
Hope all is well on the island, Nanaimo people don’t seem to think masks are necessary. Eye roll. Stay safe Meghan.
