  1. Hmmmmmmmmm…..

I actually like the one where dusk catches her little brother even though that’s technically something her ‘witch’ self wouldn’t be able to do, and could have caused questions to arrise. But she won’t ever not catch her little brother. And I think that was a really sweet scene (or I guess maybe it’s part of a scene? Not sure) because it shows a bit of her character and is just really sweet.

    1. I love your giveaways and that gnome is absolutely adorable. I love how strong Dusk is. She doesn’t take any crap. Won’t let others push her around. I can’t wait to read more.

  2. I love the scene on chapter 1 of Invoking Infinity where Dusk fires Ayre Byrne. “You work for me, and I am firing you”. I just loved how decisive she was. I saw her coming into her own and all her strength. It was an awesome scene!

  3. I love all the characters, but I really appreciate the “normal” interaction between Dusk and Sisu. You tend to forget he’s five and needs to learn basic life lessons. I particularly liked this scene… “Then he patted the still-hovering rug and said, “Onward, my steed!” The rug dumped him onto the hardwood floor, fluttering away almost huffily to settle again by the entrance. “What did I do?” Sisu cried. “What do you think?” He glanced over at the rug, which appeared completely inanimate again. Then he grimaced. “I treated it like it belonged to me, not like a friend.” An oversimplification, but … “Yes.””

  4. I am fascinated by the possibilities for the gnome. The requests for fruit, etc. seem to be leading to something more.

  5. Hello MCD, my favourite scene is when Dusk downloads the information from her tablet to her personal archive, and breaks the internet 😁

  6. I really loved the way it ended. “letters of my own to write, and historical romances to buy for a death goddess” and I love the possibilities and craziness of.. “And maybe, just maybe, the imp eggs would hatch.” Great ending and ready/excited for more. 😁

  7. I love Dusk’s love for the creatures of the world. When she fired that evil witch for killing the imp (tooth fairy), ON PURPOSE, I cheered! The toughness mingled with tender heart completely won me over. And it made me so happy when she found the eggs in her hair. I hope by the next book the brownies decide to come back to the manor. <3

  8. I really like the conversation at the end of Invoking Infinity where Dusk is talking with Jiaotu about Sisu helping, and then Sisu offers to bake the blueberry cinnamon buns, and he shouted from the hall about leaving a note for orange juice.
“Gnomes don’t usually take direction.” I grinned. “Sisu just has a way about him.” Jiaotu closed the space between us, touching me lightly on the shoulder, then immediately allowing his hand to fall away. “you both do.”

I thought that was a touching scent and made him feel more relatable!
Love all of your stories!! They are all amazing! Keep uup the good work!

    Sharon

  9. My favourite scene from the Archivist is Dusk and Sisu together in the greenhouse when the discovered the gnome. “We have a gnome!” Sisu is so innocent and wise, and the love they have and the pure joy and happiness in their new home demonstrated in that scene was lovely. I felt like that was the moment that the estate started to become their home.
Also loved the brief interaction between “Morgan” and Jiaotu. She’s so evil.

  10. My favorite scene from Invoking Infinity is in the end when Sisu and Dusk arrive home after the battle. She is wonderful at consoling him and knowing how to help him with the suggestion of texting Kellan.

  11. I love when Dusk and Sisu and others discover the eggs in her hair, she had such a tough day and it was a beautiful bittersweet moment.

  12. “Nodding and obviously caught between trying trying to be serious and seriously excited, Sisu placed his other hand under the orange he’d identified as ripe, not quite touching it. “Your oranges look tasty,” he said, speaking to the air. “My sister and I would love to try one.”

Earlier Sisu messed up by thinking the rug was a tool and not an equal. This shows he learned from his error. I love these books.

  13. Being in IT this speaks to me and makes me laugh uncontrollably when Dusk downloads the information from her tablet to her personal archive, and breaks the internet. I had tears in my eyes!

  14. I love when she sticks up to the new team and isnt afraid to stand up for what’s right and that horrible prank/test that cost a poor creature its life. But when she discovers the eggs later it makes my heart happy. I’m loving this new series!

  15. “This is odd, isn’t it? Actually, all our conversations are odd.”
    “Odd how?”
“I can’t figure out if you’re flirting with me or interrogating me.”
He leaned over me, growling. “I know you aren’t a witch.”
    “I know you aren’t a shapeshifter.”
    “I change shape.”
    “And I cast spells.”

I can’t wait to find out more about Kellan and watch this relationship develop.

  16. I love that Dusk will now be purchasing historical romances for Morgan aka Death Goddess… it gives suggestion that we will be having some fun playtime in the future with Morgan. I think Morgan is going to be some interesting fun in the future novels.

    1. I forgot that scene! I loved it too! It gave me a chuckle because my mom likes historical romances! And the comment about the goat had me ROTF! I wish I could go back and change my answer…

  17. I love the smack down she gives the antagonistic in Archives book 1. You open those blinds thinking your a big shot, your fired, gone, you mean nothing. Poor fairy. I felt their pain

  18. Love the mystery with Jiatou, wonder if maybe he is her father? Also when the Black Witch said she thought that Dusk was just a witch. Lots of mysteries and I can’t wait for the next book!

  19. I feel like Dusk snagging her brother before he bolted for the coffee shop is every big sister everywhere. Even without magic, most of us can sense when they are headed for trouble! That little snippet made her so relatable. P

    1. Oh my. There are so many. I love this new series! I love how we are seeing Dusk grow and learn, build her confidence, and come into her own. I love all of Dusks little asides that are so full of insight….. “I look forward to our conversations, archivist.” I almost didn’t answer. But then I thought about what a valuable resource an ancient being could be for an archivist. Would be. And here I was with a practically empty library to fill. I smiled at Morgan. “Perhaps tomorrow, over tea?”

  20. You have done it again. I adore the new series and those covers gorgeous. Now enough of me gushing. There are many moments in these 2 books that I think on often. The one that had me put a hand to my chest and almost come to tears is in ‘Awakening Infinity’ when in the nexus Sisu is on Jiaotu shoulders and launches himself as Dusk. This moment showed how much unquestionable trust and love Sisu has for this sister and how much Dusk naturally would drop everything for her bother.

After this chapter I called my little brother and chatted with him and his boys.

  21. It’s hard to choose one. I just love Sisu! He just has his own way of seeing the world and is completely adorable. His reaction when they first enter their new home I think is my favorite scene.

  22. My favourite scene in the book is when Dusk is talking to Kellen near the end of the book, and Kellen tells her that he knows she is not just a witch, and she says she knows that he is not just a werewolf. Then he says that he shifts into a wolf, and she retorts with “and I cast spells”. I just love that interaction because they both know they are not wholly who they claim to be, but neither will admit to it.

  23. I loved when Sisu wanted Dusk to run through the hiuse with him, to help wake it up. Can’t wait for the house to wake!

  24. First off, that gnome is ADORABLE!
Now to pick a favorite scene…so difficult…too many to pick from…
But I think I’ll go with an early favorite, the moment I fell in love with Sisu…
“Sisu instantly plastered himself to the glass enclosure holding pastries, cookies, and sandwiches…” I adore Sisu!

  25. There are a lot of options! Either finding the eggs in her hair or the intro of Kellan in the kitchen working on the house; both are really great scenes.

  26. I love all your books, have read them all! Favorite scene, too many. Dusk kicking ass and not hiding her powers great. Can’t wait to see the the eggs hatch. More on Kellan and Dusk. Meeting the gnome. And maybe a brownie will appear. Hope your headaches get better, sending healing thoughts.

  27. There are 2 scenes, which are linked. The first is when the imp comes out to grab her tooth and then is subsequently killed by Ayre. This made me cry so, so much. Dusks reaction to what was, essentially, murder. Made me cry even more. And the second is when they discover the eggs in Dusks hair. That was so poignant and full of hope and life. Cried me some more of those tears.

Oh and Kellan… yum, yum! (For Dusk, obviously!)

  28. The knitted gnome is adorable!
You weave such rich stories. It’s hard to pick a favorite part.
When Dusk admitted to Jiaotu that she put Sisu at risk chasing the death goddess.
    His response:
“Keeping Sisu with me was the best way to keep him safe,” Jiaotu said softly. “Even though I know he was far too young to witness what he did. Just as I know he is safe by your side.”
Gets me in the feels. Dusk is relatively young with a lot of responsibility. He is truthful and reassuring.

  29. Of course I loved both books but…this one made me laugh.

He had just rescued my practically immortal brother. From a situation I had completely under control. Now that was awfully sweet.

  30. I love your Gnomes so cute!
I love the part in the book where they find the Fairy eggs. I also love that the Gnome is going to watch over them and let them be part of it .
I can’t wait till the next book. Dusk and Sisu are becoming my favorite characters of yours.

  31. I love the adept universe. My favorite scene so far in this series is in the library when the rug grabs Sisu. I love how Dusk reacts.

  32. There’s a couple of scenes that I absolutely love.. the first is the idea of Sisu and Dusk “waking up the house”… I have a feeling they’ll be blessed by a brownie or two soon.. the second is the scene with the evil witch purposefully killing the imp– I was so heartbroken, along with Dusk, that I actually cheered out loud when she resoundingly fired her without any preamble. Dusk might be young among the dragons, but she’s clearly just as fierce when it comes to those under her protection.

  33. My favorite scene is in the library (?) when they find the tiny eggs in Dusks hair. After such a traumatic day and her despair over killing another, that was a beautiful way to help heal her heart.

  34. A scene that continued to stick with me is when Ayre causes the death of the imp. Dusk’s valuing that life and the horror and sadness of it ending in that way mirrors my own feelings to the vaired life we encounter daily and the frequent disregard and for its variations and value. A imp and/or a gnome will be welcome in my home!

  35. I love the scene and excitement over the eggs in her hair. How everything is dropped and how careful they are

  36. I can’t pick just one favorite scene…but I really love the relationship between Dusk & Sisu and their growing relationship with the house… and how we are seeing glimpses of how truly amazingly powerful Dusk is…all the while she alternately doubts and is arrogant…love that each one is more than they appear.even to themselves. Your creativity is beautiful. Thank you for sharing these characters with us! (The gnome is adorable)

  37. I absolutely love your books! Every single one has such great characters and I love the creatures you create. My favorite part of the Archivist books is the little imp that we thought was dead but find that eggs are found!! Such a happy read. You can make me cry and laugh and you always put a smile on my face! Please don’t stop writing! I pray your headaches go away and all those hateful people that send you mean messages go away too!

  38. I like the scene when she figured out the leaves or flowers that appear from her magic were more than just for her to press into Infinity. I love that she is figuring out more about what makes her so special. I can’t wait to find out what that snobbish suanmi finds so fascinating about her, I know it’s going to be awesome!

  39. I totally agree that this is my favorite scene, when Dusk downloads the information from her tablet to her personal archive, and breaks the internet. Thank you for a chance 😊💖💖💖

  40. I love when Dusk breaks the internet. My youngest daughter is named Naomi. We’ve called her Gnomi since she was a baby. She’s now married with two adorable kids of her own. If I win this, I’m keeping the books, but she will get the gmome!

  41. Your gnomes are wonderful, and I hope you make more. You make me want to knit!…and eat chocolates ,but that’s a different prob…no possibility! Dusk and Sisu are my 2 favorite characters! They are vulnerable yet powerful and intriguing! Their beautiful relationship really shows when they arrive at the house in Dublin and Sisu runs to wake it up. I am hoping they get their own housekeepers soon to take care of them. The witch family is delightful!

  42. My favorite scenes start with finding the Imp eggs, and placing them in the care of the gnome💜💜

  43. I love the scene when Dusk is attacked by the tooth fairy… lol, so inventive…I never thought that the tooth fairy’s diet was teeth!

  44. Still busy with Invoking Infinity, but what I love about the stories are all the books that are constantly mentioned and all the reading that is taking place by the characters, while I’m reading about them. It is just so much fun. Reading while the characters are also reading, oh, and Infinity that also ‘reads’. Just find it fascinating, wish I had an Infinity I could use, would be so helpful.

  45. I love when Sisu runs around the house “waking it up”. I can’t wait to see what else the house will do…

  46. That gnome is so cute!! My favourite scene is when Sisu and his friends are removing the tooth fairy eggs from Dusk’s hair. They are so careful and it lifts Dusk’s spirit that though the tooth fairy is dead, her babies will live

  47. Ok there was So much to love! I am loving the gnome and loving the idea that she defended the imp the way she did and then found the imp eggs. Also loving that they now have a new protector living in the tower!

  48. OMG way too many scenes to choose from!! When Dusk and Sisu find out they have a Gnome and the scene with the Imp eggs. That was such a touching moment. I just love to see how Dusk is setteling into this new life that she and Sisu have started. Looking forward to taking this journey with them. Thank you for opportunity!

  49. I like the scene in Awakening Infinity when Dusk is in the Nexus and has to go before the guardian dragons. The whole interaction between the guardian dragons and the various subtle and not so subtle power plays that are happening make me want to see what they all have up their sleeves. I’m interested to see what secrets unfold about Jiaotu and how it relates to Dusk with all the gifts he bestowed on her. There is more to that relationship and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.

  50. Oh, wow! That gnome is amazing!
My favorite scene is when Sisu finds the eggs in Dusk’s hair. Especially after the first tooth fairy died so suddenly after winning my heart so completely. The way you paint the scene with Dusk sitting between the three children as they carefully comb through her hair and place the eggs was bittersweet and I cried. Honestly, there were several scenes I cried at, haha. And I also laughed at a few. That scene, though, with the weight of the previous scene just. Mmm.

Thank you so much for continuing to write and share your stories!

    1. After reading everyone else’s responses, it really speaks to the tooth fairy scene that so many chose it. There are some other great gems noted, and I can’t disagree about included them.

If I couldn’t chose the egg scene… I’d probably chose Dusk and Doran’s banter about all the tasty artifacts. I hope their friendship continues.

  51. I loved it that she fired the witch over the tooth fairy incident. I am vegan for animals and that fears protection she felt is what I feel everytime. Plus her amazing intelligence while speaking is very pleasant to read. Intelect is sexy!

  52. I love the scene when they find the basket of food from their brownie from the old house. I love how both respect the help from brownies and feel blessed by it.

  53. I watch over eggs – G
G wasn’t a full name. But it might have been a sign that the gnome was going to trust us.
    ~Invoking Infinity

  54. I love when they find the eggs on dusk hair and how the children take good care to find them

  55. Best moment is when dusk grieves over the imp after finding the eggs. Shows the true depth of her character and heart. She didn’t even know she’s crying.

  56. I really love Dusk’s interaction with the Gnome and how shy he is. Love the gift of oranges!

  57. I love the scene where the children are searching her hair for imp eggs. It not only shows their respect for life but is a wonderful bonding moment for the five of them. I can’t wait to see how these relationships develop! Also, that little knitted gnome is so stinking cute! You should post the pattern.

  58. As I am a sucker for romance I’m particularly enjoying the will they /won’t they between Dusk and Kellan. The final chapter where Kellan and Dusk are talking about their secrets and how “she’s not a witch and he’s not a shapeshifter” is fantastic but I LOVE that Sisu says “Are you going to kiss or Kill each other?” Cracked me up.

  59. One of my favorite scenes is when Sisu runs through the house trying to wake it up. Something about that is just so relatable to me. The hope, the energy, the optimism, the playfulness… I am not sure what it is about it but those type of details draw me in.

  60. I will have to say that i agree with so much that everyone else has already said! BUT i have to admit one of my favorite scenes is Sisu talking about overheard conversations between Jiatou and their mother and the way Kellan “liked” her buns. There is definitely some backstory that’s going to come out about that relationship and the mystery surrounding Dusk’s father. AND that Infinity is a gift from the Guardian.

    1. So hard to choose just one! I love the final scene with the gnome (G!) setting up the incubator for the imp eggs and the care that both Dusk and Sisu have for the smallest of entities. However, the tension between Dusk and Kellan is pretty good, too.

  61. How many things did I love – when Dusk thought she broke the internet, how she’s a kick ass warrior-detective-librarian, the mystery about Dusk’s parentage – I totally think there’s more to that story. Oh and bit with Sisu and the carpet in the dragon library. Really fantastic. Looking forward to the next book. Can’t wait to pre-order. Thank you again MCD!!!!
Ps: may I please adopt a house brownie?

  62. I wasn’t sure how I would like this new series but it just as fabulous as the others in the Adept world. I loved it when Sisu was running around the house trying to wake it up and was getting Dusk to help. I’m waiting for some brownies to show up and claim the house and Dusk. I also thought it was great when Dusk is talking to Pearl on the phone and asks how it was possible, then Pearl told her she was talking into the portal in the basement of Cake in a Cup.

  63. Oh my word, to decide just one bit?
The whole series so far is brilliant. Ok, here goes. “You are a terrible person,” Sisu shouted, pushing in front of me. “Get out of our house!”
The entire house responded to my little brother’s demand. The entire manor. The entire property. Its power rose, pressing around us – trying to encase Mesa Byrne.
Reading the Archivist series for the second time because it’s blooming awesome. Thank you Meghan.

  64. I love pretty much any scene that Sisu and the Conall twins are in. They are so cute and mischievous. Can’t wait for book two and to see where Dusk and Kellan’s relationship goes.

  65. Jiaotu was smirking. Like, perpetually. “The death goddess lurking in your tower?” “Lounging,” I said, somehow finding some snark with which to counter being constantly on the edge of overwhelmed. “Lurking would be beneath her.”

    1. There is so much to love about these books, it is almost cruel to ask for just one scene. I enjoy her coming into her own; self confidence, powers, humanity, etc.

  66. I enjoy the banter between Sisu and Dusk, like when he tells her Kellan was looking at her butt. “… Some people find certain parts of other people attractive.” “Bums?” Sisu asked doubtfully. Oh, gods, yes. “Sometimes.”

On a side note, I appreciate the lack of typos and grammatical errors in all of your books. One of my pet peeves is paying for a book and finding that the proofreader was lazy. It especially irritates me when they spell a character’s name wrong. So thanks for that. 🙂

  67. I’m really excited to learn what Dusk’s actual powers are – or what she is. All of the hints from Jiaotu about her, the other guardians and especially Kellen about who/what she is and how powerful she is are so intriguing! She’s such a strong character – I’d put her right up there with Jade and Emma – which of course are my favorite characters in the other series.
