Kickstarter Info

Essentially Kickstarter is a funding platform. It helps a creator cover their EXPENSES (i.e. money already spent or needed to be spent to create the product). You select a tier and ‘pledge’ that amount to support the campaign. Warning: you cannot pledge multiple tiers. Though I suppose you could do so with multiple accounts. If the main funding goal is achieved, then you receive the item you pledged by the date listed (hopefully!). After the initial goal is met, there are often stretch goals (‘free’ extras/rewards) that come into play. Which people who have already baked the project (at a certain level) receive without spending any more money.

Why run a Kickstarter for Oracle 1 in the first place?

For me, a Kickstarter functions partly as a preorder – I don’t run a store, so I don’t ‘carry’ stock. A Kickstarter lets me know what my readers are interested in so I can order the minimum amount. The only guaranteed way to get any of the limited editions of Oracle 1 is to pledge/back the item you want via the Kickstarter campaign.

A Kickstarter also functions as a way to help creators finance special editions or new endeavors, etc. In my case, I’m taking the opportunity to rebrand the entire Oracle trilogy (with all new covers, etc).

Dowser 1: L.E. eBOOK

Hello, my lovelies!

This likely doesn’t apply to many of you, but – as we approach the ‘official’ release of Dowser 9.5 – for anyone who missed out on the Kickstarter limited edition eBook for Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic (Dowser 1), I’ve now made a heavily edited* version available to purchase directly from my store.

This is the same Dowser 1 eBook that can be downloaded for free on all retailers, just with art, character/world bible, recipes, etc. Some of that art in the new limited edition was included in the tenth anniversary Dowser 1 Kickstarter version. But it doesn’t include ALL of the extras, or obviously, all of the stretch goals (Dowser 9.5, the three audiobooks, etc) that came with the Kickstarter versions.

PLEASE DOUBLE-CHECK THAT YOU DON’T ALREADY OWN THE KICKSTARTER VERSION BEFORE PURCHASING. THERE IS NOTHING NEW IN THIS VERSION.

If you’ve purchased an audiobook directly from me before (here is the list of currently available audiobooks), purchasing this eBook works exactly the same way. It is delivered by BookFunnel (you click a link or input a code into the app). Then you can transfer the eBook to your preferred reading device (say, if you like to keep all your books in the same place). Please see more info/instructions on the product page.

*Note: all of the Kickstarter limited editions were exclusive to the Kickstarter. i.e. never to be sold elsewhere (not even directly from me). So certain things have been stripped from this version, including the autographed, stamped title page, author’s note, and some of the other extras. The book cover aligns with the current Dowser covers available through all retailers – so the eBooks match in your app/eReader. The interior formatting is completely redesigned. But it does include Memo’s sketches (which can also be downloaded for free under extras and freebies) and Nicole Deal’s illustrations (which weren’t perpetually exclusive to the Kickstarter).

I hope this is clear! This is more for new readers who might want some art and some of the recipes collected together in one book. 😁

Bookplates now available!

I’ve made some MCD bookplates available in my store. Whoot! Newly designed by Amanda at Eternal Geekery! This is the best way, if you collect paperbacks or even if you want one for your eReader case, to get an autograph from me. Shipping is crazy expensive from Canada (and printing is also much higher now) and bookplates are the most economical way for me to ‘sign’ your books!

Also, I apologize in advance, the printing/shipping costs were slightly higher than I anticipated so the price is slightly higher than I mentioned when I conducted my poll a couple of weeks ago. Also, I’m not offering sets of ten because that went over the 30g allowable for the lowest stamp price (it was close but I don’t want to risk it). If you want more than five, you’ll have to buy another set separately (sorry again!) so I don’t have to fuss figuring out how to combine shipping.

The letter mail rate works out to $0.92 CDN, $1.30 USA, and $2.71 INT. It should be added to your total based on your address. As long as I have that all properly sorted on my end. 😂

Yes, I will not be ordering extras. The only way to get any of the limited editions of Dowser 1 is to pledge/back the item you want via the Kickstarter campaign. The new Dowser series novella, aka tier 1, will be available on all retailers in mid2024. It will not, however, include any of the extras: the Anniversary eCard, the new recipe, etc.

A Kickstarter also functions partly as a way to help creators finance special editions or new endeavors, etc. In my case, I’ve requested the audiobook rights for Dowser 1 – 6 back from my publisher and I am in the process of recording all nine audiobooks with a new narrator: Erin Moon (she rocks!). I’m offering the audiobooks in the stretch goals section, so hopefully we reach some or all of those!

New T-shirts and Merch, etc.

A quick post to let you know that I’ve updated the Adept Universe ‘Official’ Merch page to include more logos and more ways to get your hands on merch, etc. Click the previous link and scroll to get all the info and links in one place, or keep reading for more background info.

For USA Readers, T-shirts are still available in the fitted premium style (my fav)(but the fit is SMALL), and I’ve also added a standard T-shirt and a tank top, plus a tote bag.

For UK readers, T-shirts are now available in standard and tank top.

For my fellow Canadians and other international readers, I have yet to find a single printing place that ships worldwide of a high enough quality to pass my personal inspection. So I’ve added download options for all the designs/logos. I’m charging $3CDN/per logo because, not including all the credit card fees, etc, that is approximately what I make when someone buys one of the T-shirts (etc). You can simply download the logo, save it to your computer, and then upload it to your own favourite printing place. I put some printing tips on each individual product page.

The download logo option is available to anyone who wants a logo to create their own – personal use only – merch, such as other styles of T-shirts or cellphone covers. Copyright Meghan Ciana Doidge 2022. This was the only way I could think of to keep everything equitable for my lovely readers.

For all of the above, I’ve also added three new designs based on three of the Amplifier Series oracle cards. The sunflower, apple blossom, and dandelion were the three logos selected by the reader-run Facebook fan group. All three look great but the Apple Blossom is my fav. The dandelion is definitely a subtle print.
