I just dropped In Less Than a Moment (Moments of the Adept Universe 0.3) (aka Kandy 0.5) into the inboxes of my newsletter subscribers, and as promised, I actually remembered to start a thread where you could discuss all the secrets it reveals as a group.
The novelette (15k+) cracks Kandy’s background wide open – a large piece of the puzzle leading to the events of the Dowser series, as well as the upcoming Misfits 2. Yep, the Kandy stories are most definitely prequels to the second novel of the Misfits of the Adept Universe.

OMG. Dedra certainly looks even more guilty! Poor Kandy, I’m so glad she eventually finds a place to belong. But, wow, does this part of her life suck.

Oh I just want to hug Kandy!! She has been through so much-at least we know things get better(she meets Jade and Kett) but that is so tough, thinking either your lover or your mother nearly killed you.

oh wow…I’ve always loved Kandy, but this definitely helps to understand her more! Damn, this means I need to go back and do a full reread again! I just finished one in prep for the archivist books! I feel so sad for Kandy though…I definitely needed tissues!! So sad that Dedra is not really who we thought she was!! Or at least, that is what I’m thinking is being hinted at

OMGlicious!! That was awesome. My favorite since the Jade chronicles. Loved it!!!
So many thoughts! Thank you for a delicious story. Interesting to see that Wisteria was brought in as the reconstructionist. And just a thought about Dedra. Her scent was mentioned a couple of times, along with the suspicion that it may have been witch connected. Perhaps a compulsion was planted? After all, Kandy fell fast and hard for her. And if it also masked her true scent, it would help hide her intentions and lies.
I completely agree with this theory. There is more to the sent and Dedra is doing it on purpose for sure. I’m hoping to see the story evolve to find out she is a rare “werewitch” of some type, wanting power that Kandy possesses but cannot summon on her own. The evolution of this story will help us understand Kandy better and maybe it will go full circle to meet up with Jade (!!!!).
