The state of my desk, July 2021 edition

Treadmill desk, Archivist 0 uploaded on iPad, updated desktop picture, napping Persian cat, and hot chocolate – check! Commencing reread in 3 … 2 … 1 …

Apologies to the illustrator Nicole Deal for the red blush on my desktop. Sisu is definitely NOT pink skinned. I’m having trouble with my eyes/new prescription so I’m trying different filters.

I don’t normally reread my books after they’ve been published … almost never. But I’m (hopefully) coming out from under the oppressive headache that set in after my first Covid shot (Aka back to my regular level of constant pain. Sigh), and find – likely because of the break – that I’m still struggling to hold the entirety of Archivist 2 in my head. I have the linchpins of the entire structure and the first act (aka 28k words) written, but the writing isn’t flowing. I’m hoping a reread of the prequel and book one will envelop me in Dusk’s voice, and I’ll pick up where I left off easier.

Will report back.

🙂

  1. I love your books and hope you feel better, but I think you meant Archivest 2, not Amplifiers.
Though having Dusk spend some time with Emma and learning some of her snark might be interesting

    1. Ugh, yes, thank you. Corrected. I knew I shouldn’t have written an Archivist series at the same time as an Amplifier series. LOL

      1. cool, can wait for Amplifier 5. Do the winners for giveaways for Archivist and Dowser series are selected?

      2. All giveaways are currently closed. Yes. Sometimes I update the posts (at the top ) to say that the winners have been selected but I probably haven’t. I usually announce over on Facebook as well. 😊

  2. And Bixi on the corner of your laptop supervising? Looks like a great work area. I hope your headache subsides enough to see your way through. Can’t wait to find out what Dusk & Co get up to next!

  3. Ah! First off, FEEL BETTER! Second, yes to all of the new work you’ve already done! Since you’ve got it up here and I’m in between books, I’m totally re-reading them too. Can’t wait to get a hold of Archivist 2!

  4. Good Luck! Rereading is always fun even if it is your own! Your characters do seem like real people, I can hear their voices when I read. Enjoying all your series. I also hope your headaches improve, not fun. Take care of yourself and that beautiful cat of yours!

  5. I know how hard it is to function with a constant migraine. I’m down with one myself today. Prayers and positive energy sent your way for free flowing words and an end to your pain!

  6. I just finished a re-read of Archivist 0 and 1 a week or so ago and was jonesing for more. Love your style of writing, so I decided to head back to the beginning – I am now on Dowser 5. Thank you so much for the hours of enjoyment you give your readers. I hope you continue getting better. Take Care!

  7. Hi Meghan,

I am soooo sorry to hear that your headaches have come back

If you like, I could channel you a healing with Archangel Michael that might help you

  9. I am glad your headache is diminishing and may it continue to subside. I know is a struggle to do anything as it just saps your energy

  10. I always do a reread of at least the previous book to get back in the world a make the new book last longer!
I hope your aching head gives you a break!!

  11. We’re pulling for you! I didn’t have any issues with my Covid vaccines except for one day of fatigue. Hope you are back to normal soon and you get in the flow.
