I just dropped From One Moment to the Next (Moments of the Adept Universe 0.5) (aka Kandy 0.75) into the inboxes of my newsletter subscribers, and as promised, I actually remembered to start a discussion thread!
The short (2600k) is just a sweet (well, my version of sweet) glimpse into Kandy’s life. It is set between her leaving her first pack and the events of Dowser 1. And features two other reader fav characters.
Please assume that there are spoilers for the short, as well as any Kandy book, in the comments below.

Loved the new Kandy short! I Remember Hudson from the very first Jade book I read! It is fun to make connections!
Absolutely wonderful. Kandy is one of my all time favorites and this peek into her past is just great. The connection to Hudson was a happy surprise. Reading this gave new me a new understanding of both Kandy’s and Desmond’s reactions I just loved it.

Reading this part
“ Losing Hudson? After allowing myself to love him without self-imposed and pack-imposed barriers? That might actually break me.”
and knowing how it plays out later broke my heart all over again. I ached for Jade’s loss of Hudson but learning of how deeply Kandy cared for Hudson makes his death even more painful.

I’ve always wanted Jade to say something like Kandy isn’t the sister of my blood but she’s my sister of My Heart.
Mainly because I love the relationship between Jade and Kandy, knowing that each would give up their lives to save the other.
Ohhhh…now I’m crying. Thank you, Meghan. This explains emotions felt in Dowser 1. These shorts give me insight as to why Kandy takes everything one moment to the next. If you don’t go deep, it doesn’t hurt as much. Stay safe for Kandy, Jade. It would break her beyond repair.
