A quick, quick update from me this glorious Wednesday, Nov 4, as the headache has been bad for two days in a row and I’m not certain I’m forming sentences properly at this point.
Molly had her eyelid surgery on Monday and came through it well. Yay! The surgeon also derided the ulcer in her left eye and now my poor baby has to wear a cone for three weeks until everything is super healed up. The cone is definitely a problem (and it’s only been two days 😭🤣😭).

I just finished rewatching Wednesday, season one and two, because it suited the season perfectly. I think I might have enjoyed season two even more the second time through – catching more of subtle intricacies that the writers pulled off with the interwoven storylines.
Now I need a new series to go along with my evening knitting time, any suggestions?
A bunch of my much anticipated 2026 preordered books have been dropping onto my eReader but I actually haven’t had a moment to crack open any of them yet (sigh), including:
A Court of Splintered Harmony (Amazon link) by Sarah J Mass – I probably don’t need to even mention this new release as I’m sure you’ve all grabbed it already (if you’re so inclined). But I’m actually thinking of waiting until part 2 drops in January 2027 before reading.
The Tarot Trails (Amazon link) by Katee Roberts – I preordered this book the moment I read the pitch – a high-octane, fast-paced epic fantasy of tarot magic and deadly competition – yes, please!
Homecoming Spirits (Amazon link) by Tijan – I don’t pick up many ‘pure’ romance books, but as I’ve mentioned before Tijan is a go-to author for me (I love her complicated characters and mental heath focus). And, it just so happens, there is also a menage (MFM) and some ghosts in the mix with her newest release, aka paranormal romance – so yay!
Dangerous Impulses (Amazon link) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes – I’m a big fan of all of this author’s books (especially the Inheritance Games) but I didn’t know that a fifth book was even in the works for her The Naturals series – a young adult crime thriller series about an elite FBI program that recruits exceptional teenagers with innate psychological abilities to solve cold cases and active serial killer investigations. I’m excited to dig in!
I’m also patiently waiting for Evelyn Flood to drop the second book in her Rejected Mate Omegaverse duology (book 1 is Traded). Normally I’m not a fan of too much angst in my omegaverse reads … though now that I think about it most of my fav omegaverse reads are a little dark around the edges … but I loved Traded and it really stayed with me (which is high praise because my mind is so busy and beleaguered). Looking forward to book 2 (coming soon, I believe)!
What are some of your recent fave (or anticipated) reads?

One reply on “Molly’s eye surgery & new books on my TBR”
I hope the headaches clear for you! I’m reading A Court of Splintered Harmony now and Mad Mabel on audio. I’m enjoying both. I impulse bought Tarot Trials at my local book store. And I’m adding those others to my list.
I’m looking forward to reading The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros
