Oracle 1: book cover rebranding

I’m exceedingly pleased to announce that the Oracle Series has been brilliantly rebranded by the ever talented, Elizabeth Mackey. I asked her to pull the covers more inline with the Dowser and Reconstructionist Series, emphasizing the magical/fantastical elements, and I believe this new look does exactly that.

I’ll be rolling out the new book covers across all retailers/sites over the next few days, but here is a first look at I See Me (Oracle 1). I hope you love it as much as I do!!

Mailing List Giveaway – Three prizes!

You might have just received an email about my new release mailing list reengagement campaign. Essentially, I’ve trimmed everyone off my mailing lists who (according to my hosting site) haven’t engaged or opened an email from me in a couple of years. Or who recently signed up for my list via Instafreebie.

I’ve done this for two reasons.

  1. I have an upcoming new release (Reconstructionist 2) and don’t want to continue spamming anyone who doesn’t wish to be spammed. Our inboxes are full enough!
  2. I pay MailChimp to host my mailing lists for me, so subscribers who don’t actually want to get emails from me actually cost me a tiny bit of money every month.

To make this a fun endeavour, I decided to put together three prize packages, including autographed paperbacks of the three entry points to the Adept Universe – find the reading order here – the Dowser, Oracle, and Reconstructionist Series.

Prize pack #1 includes: an autographed paperback of Dowser 1, plus 6 Dowser recipe cards.
Prize Pack #2 includes: an autographed paperback of Oracle 1, plus 6 butterfly tattoos, and 3 postcards.
Prize pack #3 includes: an autographed paperback of Reconstructionist 1, plus 5 meme postcards.

All you need to do in order to enter is either subscribe to, or already be on, my new release mailing list. Yep, everyone on my mailing list before March 28, 2017 will automatically be entered to win one of these three prizes. YAY! You can double check to see if you are already subscribed by trying to resubscribe.

RESUBSCRIBE HERE

Caveats: This does not include subscribers on my monthly newsletter (that is a separate list). Prize packs will be awarded randomly.

Notes/Rules: OPEN INTERNATIONALLY. Each mailing list subscriber will be assigned an entry number. THREE winning entries will then be selected via random number generator. One entry per person. Please make sure to fill out a valid email address. Prize winner will have seven days to response to email notification. If the prize goes unclaimed, a new winner will be randomly selected. No purchase necessary.

Giveaway closes TUESDAY, MARCH 28, 2016 at 8 p.m. PDT.

I See Me (Oracle 1) Kirkus Review

I See Me (Oracle 1) received a great Kirkus Review today. So of course, I had to share.

In this first book of the Oracle fantasy series, a young woman ages out of a foster-care system only to learn she’s a being of great magical potential.

An orphan from birth, Rochelle Saintpaul has just turned 19. She’s now allowed to leave her Vancouver Residence home and follow her bliss in an RV. Her online business of selling charcoal drawings is successful, but her unknown psychotic disorder (plaguing her since she was 13) produces seizures and visions. The visions—featuring a tall man in a black suit and a blond woman wielding a sparkling green knife—become the subjects of her drawings. While saying goodbye to her social worker, Rochelle receives a jewelry box that belonged to her mother, who died in a car accident. Inside are a gold necklace and “an antique white rock.” Rochelle then buys her RV and heads for Washington state, just as a scraggly local named Hoyt tries once more to befriend her. No sooner does she find a roadside diner across the border than does someone ask her, “What are you?…A witch?” The buff, charismatic stranger, named Beau Jamison, notes her tattoo sleeves and alluring eyes. After buying her some pie, Beau wins Rochelle over and returns with her to the RV. Expanding the world of her Dowser series, Doidge (Catching Echoes, 2016, etc.) merges romance, carnality, and supernatural fantasy to lush effect. Her characterization of Rochelle as someone who’s earned her place in the world is encapsulated by the line “My entire life had been dictated by other people’s tragedies and shortcomings, but now I had a future that was just mine.” Later, Doidge hints at the bond forming between her protagonists when Beau “tucked my hair behind my ear…then caressed down my neck and across my collarbone,” only to moments later shove readers off an erotic cliff. The fantasy elements, including shape-shifters, sorcerers, and Rochelle’s connection to them all, proceed more gradually. The volume ends with a compromise—made for love—that promises dire consequences later in the series.

A gift to the author’s fans and a compelling introduction to her supernatural universe for new readers. – Kirkus Reviews

All the pretty paperbacks …

This is a purely promotional post suggesting that if you liked the Dowser or Oracle series books, then perhaps someone on your holiday gift list might enjoy reading them as well. 🙂 The eBooks can be gifted, of course, but the novels are also available in paperback if your friend or family member hasn’t yet made, or refuses to make, the transition to an eReader.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

All the paperbacks are available internationally via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Createspace. Links can be found for each of the specific books on their individual book pages (listed in the right side bar) but I’ve included the buy links for the first book in each series below.

I’ve always been a fan of giving books for Christmas – often spending hours and far too much $$ in bookstores in December – but now I tend to give gift certificates more than anything. Which is undoubtedly lazy of me, but certainly leaves more time for writing. 😀

Oracle Series: Live chat & a paperback giveaway

I’m hosting a live chat over on my Facebook page this Sunday, November 20, 2016 starting at 2pm PST (5pm EST) (10pm GMT) where I’ll be answering any and all questions regarding the Oracle series.

After the chat is finished I’ll collect all the questions asked in the comments, assign them an entry number, and use a random number generator to give away these three, autographed Oracle series paperbacks:

If you are unable to attend the live chat you can still enter the giveaway by submitting a question ahead of time. I will collect these early entries, answer as many as I can during the live chat, and assign the questions entry numbers for the giveaway.

To enter the autographed paperback giveaway, comment below with a question about any of the books in the Oracle Series* – plot, characters, anything you’d like to chat about.

*Questions that are specifically about the Dowser Series will not be assigned an entry number. But questions regarding characters that appear in both series – within context of the Oracle books – are fair game.
