Birthday giveaway: a few of my favourite things

GIVEAWAY CLOSED. WINNER: LUCKY #56 – Jennifer from Massachusetts, USA!

It’s my birthday today – yay!

I get as much enjoyment by giving a gift to someone else on the day of my birth as I do receiving a gift. Occasionally, I’ll buy a meal for a homeless person or take a group of friends out for brunch, but this year I wanted to collect a few of my favourite things – new and old – into one box and give them away to a lovely reader. Your support this year has been very welcomed and much appreciated!

Fun! Fun!

Without further ado, here are a few of my favourite things for 2015:

MCD's birthday box of favourites.
MCD’s birthday box of favourites.

I had a great time putting this eclectic collection together. Clockwise from top left: felted wool dryer balls (handmade by MCD); three paperbacks from my favourite urban fantasy series: Magic Bites, Storm Front, and Moon Called; a Little Traveller pin; hand cream, foot cream, and lip balm from L’Occitane (I use these every day!); small-batch caramels from Scarlata (my favourite discovery from the Northwest Chocolate Festival 2015); and, of course, some Oracle Series tattoos.

Would you like to collect this box of favourites for your very own?

You would?

Okay then!

To enter my birthday giveaway all you need to do is:

  1. Comment below and tell me your favourite thing from 2015 (so far).

Notes/Rules: OPEN INTERNATIONALLY. Each comment will be assigned an entry number. ONE winning entry will then be selected via random number generator. One entry per person. Please make sure to fill out a valid email address in the comment form. Email addresses are not collected for any purpose other than notifying the contest winner.

If you haven’t commented on the blog before, or you comment from a different IP address, the comments are moderated. So don’t worry if you don’t see your entry right away. I will approve it, then assign it an entry number.

Contest closes MONDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2015 at 8 p.m. PDT.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! 😉

James reviews I See Me (Oracle 1)

Okay. I wrote this entire blog post, then deleted it because I was boring myself. Ha. Instead, I will leave you with a screenshot of the review that inspired my deleted blog post and let you make your own observations.

James – I hope you don’t mind me sharing this but I loved finding your review over on Amazon today.

I just write the stories that haunt me, then cross my fingers and hope that readers might enjoy them. Thankfully some of you do!

Okay! I’m off to the Northwest Chocolate Festival in Seattle. See you on the other side.

I started tracking my books sales by country last May and am exceedingly pleased to have added a bunch more countries in August! I’m getting an education as I add some of these countries to the map. I know the general area of most of them, of course. But pinpointing the exact locations has been an exceedingly cool excerise.

Surprise gifts

I love surprise gifts … you know, when it’s not your birthday or Christmas so it’s completely unexpected. Who doesn’t? I love giving them (in case you hadn’t noticed with all the giveaways I do – ha!) but I certainly don’t mind receiving them either.

This sweet thank you note along with a tatted ring and bracelet made by Billie arrived in the mail yesterday.

Tatted jewelry from BillieBillie won the last round of paperback giveaways celebrating the release of Dowser 5. And the super cool thing? Other than the totally classy thank you note. I’ve never laid eyes on tatted jewelry before. I’d heard the term tatted, of course. But I hadn’t associated it with jewelry, etc.

So Billie, thanks for the surprise present and for the new knowledge! Look for an upcoming character wearing tatted jewelry somewhere, sometime. 😀

I started tracking my books sales by country in May and am exceedingly pleased to have added three more countries in July! I was grinning ear-to-ear as I typed this up and added new colours to the map. I’m so glad I decided to keep track.

Book sales by country – May 2015

A friend of mine is currently working for the United Nations in Germany – yes, that’s insanely cool – and he started colouring in a world map whenever he met with a client from a different country. I thought it would be cool to steal his idea and apply it to my books (as best as I can track through Amazon, Kobo, B&N, and iTunes).

I’ve sold in countries other than those coloured in below (specifically Asia) but I thought I’d start officially tracking now, then colour the map in every month if I’m lucky enough to add readers.

Seeing all the countries coloured in on the map makes me grin ear to ear.

Thank you for reading!! I hope you’re enjoying the ride as much as I am.

Misprint giveaway #5 – last but not least!

GIVEAWAY CLOSED. WINNER AMANDA FROM OKLAHOMA, LUCKY #7

To recap a fourth time. I had fifteen misprinted paperbacks. The covers of the paperbacks were all oddly tinted to various degrees with pink and red. And, in a few, the top and bottom margins shift down or up around the halfway point. Since I’m a fan of decluttering, I thought I should give these ‘rarities’ away.
