Book sales by country – August 2015

I started tracking my books sales by country last May and am exceedingly pleased to have added a bunch more countries in August! I’m getting an education as I add some of these countries to the map. I know the general area of most of them, of course. But pinpointing the exact locations has been an exceedingly cool excerise.

My paperback proofs

I keep all my paperback proofs – flaws and all – lined up in the upper left corner of my sitting desk. I just added Dowser 5 to the group, making it now almost eight inches of self-generated inspiration.

MCD paperback proofsI adore these books, even the misprinted spines of After the Virus and Spirit Binder. Perhaps that is egotistical, but there is just something so satisfying with this evidence of creation. So much so, that on days where I have to beat back the resistance just to chain myself to the desk, I can see that I’ve done it before. I’ve produced. I’ve made it through five or more drafts, editing, proofing, and into print.

Day and days of tears have gone into these books, but happily, much, much more laughter has accompanied their creation.

I published the ebook of ATV in June 2011, so the above eight inches encapsulates over four years of my life. It’s crazy that so much time has flown by, yet utterly fulfilling to have these books to mark the years.

What a blast it’s been!

Dowser 5: paperback

So this beauty just showed up in my mailbox for proofing.

Dowser 5 paperback

I love ebooks, and I rarely buy paperbacks myself. Though I do have a few author-signed books that I’ve collected lately. But there is just something about seeing your words in print. 😀

Dowser 5 - back of paperback

I immediately approved the proof, so it’s on sale at Createspace now and should be available on Amazon in 3 days or so, then on other retailers in about a week.

You know what a new paperback means, right?

Yep, more giveaways!

I still have a few misprints I need to pawn off, and someone should get a copy of this pretty baby as well, don’t ya think?

Book sales by country – July 2015

I started tracking my books sales by country in May and am exceedingly pleased to have added three more countries in July! I was grinning ear-to-ear as I typed this up and added new colours to the map. I’m so glad I decided to keep track.

Book sales by country – May 2015

A friend of mine is currently working for the United Nations in Germany – yes, that’s insanely cool – and he started colouring in a world map whenever he met with a client from a different country. I thought it would be cool to steal his idea and apply it to my books (as best as I can track through Amazon, Kobo, B&N, and iTunes).

I’ve sold in countries other than those coloured in below (specifically Asia) but I thought I’d start officially tracking now, then colour the map in every month if I’m lucky enough to add readers.

Seeing all the countries coloured in on the map makes me grin ear to ear.

Thank you for reading!! I hope you’re enjoying the ride as much as I am.

Reintroducing Spirit Binder

Last December I decided to give my novel, Spirit Binder, which was originally published in June 2012, a freshening up. I had it reproofed, beta’d, and did some light editing myself. I’d received some consistent feedback that there were typos in the original (there were, damn it!) and that the opening chapter was a little difficult to get into (for obvious reasons because of the POV). I hope those issues are now solved and/or smoothed.

Unfortunately, this ‘freshening’ opened a tiny can of worms, which ended up with me having ALL my novels (except After The Virus) reproofed. And, along with trying to get Dowser 4 edited, proofed, and formatted, I’m just now getting around to announcing that the freshly proofed Spirit Binder is available. YAY!

Spirit Binder is a stand alone fantasy novel set a thousand years after spirit (aka magic) rises to take back the world in an apocalyptic event. It is not connected to the Dowser or Oracle series. My young adult novel, Time Walker, is set ten years after the events in Spirit Binder but is not a direct sequel.

Here is the ‘freshened’ excerpt.

Spirit Binder book cover by Irene Langholm

Synopsis: Theodora Rudan woke severely injured, covered in blood, and missing ten years of her life. Just to complicate matters further, she was born under a prophecy; one that has rabid followers with three different interpretations, all of whom are willing to sacrifice her in order to fulfill it. Not knowing if she can trust the stranger she’s betrothed to, the warrior visiting her dreams, or even her own mother, Theo tries to piece together her past only to find that her present is far more dangerous. It’s the power of her own blood that scares her most of all. This is a responsibility Theo never wanted, and a destiny she cannot deny.

BUY THE EBOOK

Amazon  –  iBooks – Barnes & Noble  – Kobo

Please note the changes to the novel are not significant. The plot has not been altered. However, if you’ve previously purchased this book through Amazon, I believe you can download an updated version through your kindle account. Or you will be able to do so in the nearish future as I put in a request last January with Amazon. If you’ve purchased through Kobo, iBooks, or B&N and you’d like a ‘fresh’ copy email me at info [at] madebymeghan.ca with your proof of purchase and I’ll send you a coupon code for a new download (either through iBooks or Smashwords).

Many apologies that this work needed to be done in the first place. I’m blessed with fantastic proof readers and beta readers, but typos and missing words still slip through. If you ever find a typo in any of my books, please let me know. It is fairly easy to update the ebooks, though slightly more difficult with the paperbacks.

Okay! Back to writing Dowser 5!!

Dowser 4 – Happy Release Day!

Shadows, Maps, and Other Ancient Magic (Dowser 4) is now officially available as an ebook on AMAZON,  KOBOiBOOKS, NOOKand SMASHWORDS.

ETA: The nook version was delayed by formatting issues, but it is now available! I’m terribly sorry about the delay, but it was out of my hands 🙁

The paperback is currently being formatted, and if all continues smoothly it should be ready by midMarch.

Shadows (etc) ebook cover

Here are my favourite quotes from the new book. Do you have any favourites yet?

“Are your fingernails green?” Branson asked now, completely bemused.
“Jade is the new black, baby,” I said. “You should see my toes.”
Then I kicked him in the head. – Shadows, Maps, and Other Ancient Magic, Dowser 4, Chapter 1

The healer wants to bed you,” Drake said. His tone suggested he was mystified by this discovery.
“Drake!”
“What? Did I use the expression incorrectly? The healer wants to take you to bed? To his bed?” the fourteen-year-old continued. “To have sex, you know.”
“Stop. Talking.” – Shadows, Maps, and Other Ancient Magic, Dowser 4, Chapter 1

We stared down at the black leather-swathed dragon at our feet. He was out cold. Everything about him was definitely broad — as in shoulders, chest, nose, cheekbones, and jaw.
“At least he’s damn cute,” Kandy said. “You know, if he’s here to eviscerate us.”
Kandy and I had very different opinions on what qualified as ‘cute.’ – Shadows, Maps, and Other Ancient Magic, Dowser 4, Chapter 2

Thanks to everyone who participated in the giveaways. You made the week leading up to the release super fun. There will be one more ebook giveaway on The Reader Cafe (along with a cupcake recipe) on March 14.

Now I’m back to writing Dowser 5!

Dowser Series – trilogy structure

Okay, I’m just dashing off this post because I’m supposed to be editing. 😀 So, if you have any questions, please comment below and I’ll add the answer to the post.

A few eagle-eyed readers have noted that the title of Dowser 4 does not follow the structure set up by the titles of Dowser 1, 2, and 3. And they are absolutely correct.

trilogy annoucementDowser 4 – 6 is a new trilogy. Brand-spanking-new characters will mingle with old favourites. What is set up in Dowser 4 will be concluded in Dowser 6, though I seriously doubt that will be the end of the series. I imagine there will be Dowser 7 – 9 … because I already know how Dowser 7 begins …

Okay, back to editing!
