Halloween Freebies

Love Lies Bleeding is free from October 29 – November 2, 2013 on Amazon.

What about some other Halloween appropriate freebies? Well, I’m glad you asked!

Ten Dead Mice by Sharon Delarose – *Free 10/30 only* – Synopsis: We were supposed to fill in the blank: “Dead as _______.” Being a group of authors, we all jumped on board with our silly answers, mine being: “Dead as my hamster would be if our dog’s fantasy came true.” Several mousey answers were posted, and my head filled up with a lifetime of dead mouse and other rodent stories — true stories all — and Ten Dead Mice: See How They Died was brought to life. I’ll probably catch hell for calling it Ten Dead Mice when the stories involve mice, rats, gerbils, hamsters, and even a squirrel, but the title is catchy and they’re all rodents. So here goes…

Also by Sharon Delarose, perfect for Halloween but not free, The Wizard of Awe – $5.99

Brandon Hale has his book Day Soldiers (Amazon link, also free through B&N, Apple, or Smashwords) perma-free right now and he is also running a series of short stories by other writers on his blog throughout Halloween.

Halloween ebook Sale – $0.99

After The Virus is reduced from $3.99 to $0.99 from October 28, 2013 to November 2, 2013 on  Amazon, Kobo, and the iBookstore.

Happy Halloween!

Wait! There’s more! I thought it might be fun to collect some more $0.99 (or reduced) halloween ebooks and make this a real party. So, check these out!!

The Well Collector by Trish Marie Dawson – 4.9 star average out of 10 reviews on Amazon. Synopsis:  “Time was speeding up, moving faster every day. He had to have another one. Now…” Love, lies, loss and murder. Not everything is what it seems in this short psychological thriller that takes readers on a journey through the darkest depths of one twisted soul. Everyone has that special collection – what does the Well Collector keep hidden away? And what happens when the collection is finally complete?

Animals Odd by Alison Blake – Three short stories of animals crossing that narrow line where the imaginary, the dreamed of, and the remembered clash, and destroy, but also deliver the humans they encounter. There are animals that bring love and warmth into the human world, but there are others that are just…odd

Kellie’s Dairy – Decaying Innocence – normally $5.99 now $3.99  – Follow Kellie’s journey as she ventures out into the world, braving dangers of all kinds, both natural and unnatural, expected and surprising. She must learn to survive based on her own wits, and she will also learn which instincts she should trust. This is the novel version of the best-selling horror and zombie graphic novel series, with a lot of additional content not in the graphic novels. It includes “Sarah’s Despair,” “Dr. Crane,” and more.

ATV Halloween Promo

47,435 words and counting…

Okay, drive by update. I’m over halfway through the second draft of  Trinkets, Treasures, and Other Bloody Magic, so if I keep up this pace – and the edit isn’t too atrocious – I’ll hopefully be hitting publish on this sequel in October.

The 2nd draft of Trinkets, Treasures, and Other Bloody Magic has been fuelled by See's Candies dark chocolate chews!
Trinkets, Treasures, and Other Bloody Magic brought to you by See’s Candies dark chocolate chews!

I’d like to say that it has taken me over a week to accumulate those paper wrappers, but that would be a bald faced lie. And I’m about to add two more to the pile … then recycle the evidence.

Jade made me do it.

Okay … I can’t even lie convincingly by blog.

Bad news, good news…

Bad news, if you are waiting on the After The Virus prequel short story, you will be waiting until Spring 2014 now.

Good news! The prequel short is now a novel titled Without Warning.

Bad news, it is not a direct prequel to After The Virus (i.e. the main character is NOT Snickers).

Good news! A novel gives me more room to explore the BEFORE part of the ATV universe, as well as the fall out from a different perspective.

Good news! This means you will see Jade again more quickly as I’m starting the 2nd draft of the 2nd book, Trinkets, Treasures, and Other Bloody Magic this morning (TBR Autumn 2013). Yes, I’ve settled on a title – yay.

Good news! You can still sign up to win paperback copies of my other four novels by commenting on the post below.

Need another teaser to keep you going until next spring? Irene Langholm has already done her magic on the cover but you will have to wait a bit longer to see it in its full glory. Oh, I’m such a tease with book covers and cupcakes!

*Note: for anyone who ‘won’ the prequel short in the Apocalypse Whenever Giveaway (Goodreads) or my mailing list giveaway a couple of months ago I’m about to send you an email.

In today’s mail: Cupcakes (etc) paperbacks!!

HAPPY RELEASE DAY, CUPCAKES (Etc)!!

Finally! It’s the ‘official’ release day for my new urban fantasy, Cupcakes, Trinkets & Other Deadly Magic. YAY!!

Cover image and Design by Irene Langholm
Design by Irene Langholm

Synopsis: If you’d asked me a week ago, I would have told you that the best cupcakes were dark chocolate with chocolate cream cheese icing, that dancing in a crowd of magic wielders — the Adept — was better than sex, and that my life was peaceful and uneventful. Just the way I liked it. That’s what twenty-three years in the magical backwater of Vancouver will get you — a completely skewed sense of reality. Because when the dead werewolves started showing up, it all unraveled … except for the cupcake part. That’s a universal truth.

And what are the early reviewers saying?

“Witches, werewolves and vampires…oh my! Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic is a fun-filled trip into a world where bad magic can get a good witch down and power isn’t always accessed through hard work and determination … sometimes it’s stolen.” – Headshot Heather from doubleshotreviews.com

“This was a fun, action filled urban fantasy that will also have you running to bake cupcakes! … and I loved the unpredictability of not knowing what would happen next.” – Sarah from Sarah Elizabeth’s Bookshelf

“The mystery and suspense build up to a riveting and mind-blowing conclusion that shows Doidge as the brilliant riddler that she is. A definite five star even without the mouth-watering cupcake teasers. More please!” – Cindi Clubbs from Mommasez…blog, www.ccclubbs.com(review on Amazon)

“Complete with witches, werewolves, vampires, and necromancers, this novel will keep readers laughing and turning the pages as Jade tries to figure out the truth behind the deaths surrounding her—the deaths that all point to her. ” – 4 stars, Shana from A Book Vacation

Cupcakes (Etc) is my fourth novel, and I’m pretty excited about it!! To celebrate I baked, of course. Because I was in a pink sort of mood – for the first time in my life, actually – I chose Love in a Cup, a dark chocolate cake with strawberry buttercream frosting.

strawberry buttercream icing on dark chocolate cake = Love in a Cup
Now that is Love in a Cup

Oh! Love in a Cup smell(s)(ed) SO good!! … and moments after the ‘photo shoot’??

A bite of of a Love in a Cup
A bite out of a Love in a Cup

No typos yet …

… though that doesn’t mean I’m not adding/changing things, of course. And yes, that is my customized pink ruler. It was a gift many, many years ago, and it is just the perfect length to keep me focused line by line.

So focused I don’t even have time to take a picture and … err. Wait, that’s not right. Maybe the ruler should be named ‘procrastination thy name is writer-facing-final-proof-of-70,000-word-novel’. Except that wouldn’t all fit on a 6in/10cm ruler. Well, not in a readable font size anyway.

Back to work! I have a book to release after all!!
